My mk5 experiences

Hi

I just thought i'd introduce myself and the car i've got :)

I bought an mk5 1.9 tdi SC Sport with Nayara blue metallic finish and 17" alloys as extras. This was available in the showroom so no waiting involved! :D

In an ideal world i would've had the ipod/usb kit and possibly the integrated bluetooth. I had other ideas with that anyway, so not overly bothered it wasn't installed.

I recently went to Halfords and had a Parrot MKi9100 bluetooth kit installed. All I can say is that it is fantastic and the free install is/was the same! The beauty of this kit is that it supports Ipod/USB and Aux inputs and all integrated into the car system! I love it!! lol

I phoned my dealer (Wolverhampton) and the guy actually recommended Halfords, which kinda surprised me. Not that they could offer the same kit.

Using Millers additive is the latest addition. The reviews i've read and heard for it are very good.

Anyway, sorry to bore you with this!

Cheers

Andy

Your welcome :)

What car have you ordered?

I was curious to see on the Seat website that the 1.9 tdi has been replaced with a 1.6 CR.

I hope thats not an omen. I've only had this car a few weeks and already the specs have changed!

It makes you wonder if there is something wrong with my type of engine??

I'm very keen to see your new car photos when you get them.

Cheers

I've gone for the 1.6 with the DSG box. In Candy white with 17" rims. Got plenty of extras; ipod, bluetooth, convenience pack.

Will have it by the end of August at the latest.

Nothing wrong with the 1.9TDI, they've been using it for years. Only reason it's been dropped is because the new 1.6 is common rail, and delivers the same power from a smaller engine and is apparently more refined.

Hi Mark

Thanks for the info :)

It's kinda reassuring that! :D

Bigman Andy,

I would be interested to see some photos of the Parrott kit installed in your car.

I'm looking for a retro fit Bluetooth / iPod kit option for the wife's Mk5.

Regards
Lee

Hi allym1982,
When did you order your car?
Were you given a build date by your dealer?
Your car must already have been built or being built this week to get August delivery as Seat's production shuts down in August for the holidays.

Hi Lee

Sorry for the late response mate.

I'm in Cornwall on holiday at the mo. When I get a chance I'll take some photo's and add them to my Flickr account and post you a link :)

Just to add, it's been used a fair bit this past week and it's truly awesome! :D To be able to use your Ipod and answer calls with a touch of button on your steering wheel is great! :funk:

Thanks for your patience

Andy

You can check my pictures of the Parrot MKi1900 kit installed here

Any questions please ask. I was able to watch and help a little with the install.

Hi mate

Another 1.9 Coupe owner here.

Just wondering if your throttle seems to have 2 stages, not in response of course but in pressure needed to get it to the floor?

Ours seems to be what I'd call normal for the first half of it's travel then you have to apply a lot more pressure to it to get it any further.

Cheers, Jon

I have noticed that in my passat. I asked and they told me it is a kind of limiter. I don't have my ibiza yet so i don't know if it has this

Hi Jon

To be honest I've not really noticed. That's not to say it doesn't happen though.

I am a bit heavy footed! lol

I'll take more notice later and report my findings :)

Cheers, Andy

To add :

I can report that there is definitely more effort required for the last quarter or so for the accel pedal. Maybe it's just one of those things. Not really a problem at all.

Hi Leecan

Sorry it's been a while posting these pics for you. You can check out the photo's here

Any questions please ask. I was able to observe and help a little with the install.

I can tell you that the remote unit functions via an wireless RF signal. Not sure what frequency it uses but it doesn't interfere with any other kit.

The main unit is concealed behind the radio. The USB/AUX cable & IPOD cable are fed into the glove box. It's all very neat and tidy.

I've had mine a week today and I haven't noticed anything too much, I did feel at one point that it didnt seem an awful long way between off and all the way down but like the others I will try to pay attention when im buzzing around over the next to days.
