ive had my pedal box out tonight to weld it up because it was looking abit ify, when i put it all back together the clutch cable is compressing in the middle were the spring is rather than working the clutch, ive tried alsorts to stop it but just cant do anything with it. Does this mean its just nakered? or is there a nak to it i haven't found yet?

Cheers guys

Did you compress the spring using the white ties (Assuming theyre still on the cable) before you disconnected it? If not, its probably buggered. I think they cost 20 pound.

how did you get the cable back on ? sounds like you had it full stretch on the auto adjuster and have blown it getting it back on ??

the cable should be strapped up (white clip) for fitting then released to take up the slack automatically but you can remove a good cable and tweak em to fully reset but it is a definate skill to doing it :) gets easier with practice

hold it vertical by the outer casing at the gearbox end (gaiter and pedal hook downwards)

slide the inner cable all the way in and check for approx 30mm of free play

pull gently and you will get another 150mm of free slack before you feel a bit of resistance

pull and push in and out and you will now have about 30mm of free play again

now the trick is to slide it down and jerk pull up against that lower 30mm zone when the ratchet jaws are open

when it works you will get instant resistance against the spring and hear a zip sound

now you will have to pull it up tight and hold on tight while you get someone to clip it closed with the white straps

is hard to do but easy once mastered and does great exercise for ya pecs and puts hairs on ya chest :p i have a cable here spare (new one on mine) and can do it 1 pull out of 3

if i do it on my own there is always that moment of intrepidation wondering if the cable has slipped off the pedal but a tab of gaffer tape helps :p

gtiboy, i found if you take the wipers and scuttle panel off, maybe even the wiper linkage then you can get to everthing so easily, once i had reset my cable only took about 20mins to take it apart fit the cable and box it back! And not one swear word was spoken! :D

Well i managed to do it on my own last nite

if i do it on my own there is always that moment of intrepidation wondering if the cable has slipped off the pedal but a tab of gaffer tape helps :p

Yup i had that feelin to :D and the 1st time it had come off the pedal  but second time was fine.

I didnt take the scuttle pannel off cudnt get the wipes off :( but neither the less i done it in about 2hours and many swear words. The hardest part was gettin something that will leaver the arm back on the gearbox without damaging anyfink.

Oh well its done and feels loads better now
