right im thinking if my 110tdi gets written off i might go for a LCR, get the car i always should have got.

Fuel isnt an issue anymore.

Insurance is 200 quid more. which is fine imo

but servicing what would the difference be?

My old leon had 18"wheels so thats no different.

im guessing brakes are a bit more pricey?

For a decent set of front pads your looking at £100 (ferodo ds2500), for EBC discs you're looking at about £120 for the pair (grooved) or £200 for Brembos or EBC drilled & grooved.

Road tax is £215pa & going up to £245pa in April.

Engine oil is the expensive stuff, 5w 30 Full synthetic.

Tyres need replacing fairly often but that depends on how you drive and how far.

They like high octane petrol but will settle for 95ron if you're desperate. I've always run mine on V-Power, so much smoother, feels more responsive and idles more happily.

see the thing is I ran the 110 on vpower after the map had been done as it just stops the egr clogging as quickly.

pads and disks are about the same as i paid for the tdi

so all it seems it will cost extra is 300 quid for tax and insurance increase. and a bit more in mpg, but the diesel i could only get 420 miles from a tank with lcr i should get 250-300.

which considering the car is much much faster and more exclusive i think is worth it.

The 40k service will cost a little more than the derv (spark plugs etc.) but not a lot more. In general it's brakes, tyres and fuel that will cost the most.

Just to add, the current tax rate is £215 - going up to £245 next year.

If brakes and tyres are similar to what your used to already then I'd go for it, servicing depends if you do your own, if you do it's hardly gonna be much different. I think your only real difference is going to be fuel I'd imagine.

the brakes on mine were 130quid for new brembo pads (from the stealer) last nov, and they are already 80% worn (so im told). they only done 6k miles!

just so you got a rough idea on fuel, my current average (which includes a lil bit of town driving, some motorway driving, and some rather enthusiastic driving when i finish work at 2am some mornings and the roads are quiet) is about 24-25mpg. I do have quite a heavy right foot though - love flooring it away from roundabouts. makes the costs of running it insignifigant!

if your careful on the motorway you can get better though. i did a run to oxford and back (from taunton) at 60-65mph and got 42.6mpg.

Ive just had a service, and that should be 193quid from the local seat dealer (at least thats what they told me, so when i pick it up in the morning i could be in for a surprise). that was a 20k service

Hope this helps :)

yeah seems good, i got a friend who does servicing for me though so just wondered about parts, im guessing coilpacks etc are worth keeping spares of.

I used to get 40mpg from the old diesel on the motorway but im assuming with the cupra r if i keep it sesable i can do good mpg with that nice 6th gear etc.

If you drive very carefuully 42.5 MPG is fully possible in a LCR.
Please lets not start an MPG post, believe me it is, end of. lol

Although the costs for parts are the same, you'll burn through them a lot quicker. The Brembos eat pads in my experience - I used to stuggle to get over 12k miles on a set, whereas my current car is about 50% after 30k miles, driving exactly the same style. Tyres only lasted about 10k for me as well.
