that looks like a real good project, bet its a hoot to drive, even with the old rover lump in.

I think it's turning out ok. Especially as I'm no professional with limited skills(welding is a no no for example).
On it's last outing(sick Rover engine with about 170 at the wheels), it made 120mph on a runway at Woodbridge, which is between i would say 1/4 to 1/2 a mile.

Charge cooler's nicely tucked out of the way, shame you couldn't get one with inlet/outlet alignment that was easier for you, but it shouldn't be too bad. Could you clock the cold side to make the run shorter? I don't see a diverter valve...

The charge cooler for the money looks to be just the job. But as yo say. Had to work round the outlets with the hoses.

When you say "clock the cold side", what do you meant?

I don't have a diverter valve (Is that the same as a dump valve?). I was told with the turbo and bearings fitted, I will not need a dump valve. Just get turbo chatter out of the air filter.

is there enough room to run the inlet pipework in front of the alternator and next to the timing belt cover over the top of the shocker ? would be a lot shorter route

looks close body wise but there some brackets about to keep it tight and keeping it inside the rails will be safer from any damage underneath off track and road etc

looking sweet though - same colours i have for the hotrod gunmetal/red inside :)

Where did you purchase the kit, or is it a one off build?

You need to have alot of patience and retain motivation, when you see what the car started out as - from just a rolling frame and an engine - then piecing it all together.

Hopefully most of the hard work is now over and you can concentrate on the finishing touches and finely tuning that engine? :)

Would be great to see some video of the car driving / on the track?

Must be nice to jump into something special like that at the weekends.

Would be very interesting to see if you do.

The old skool HotRods are CLASS! In this country however they are alot rarer (than the States for comparison), so I'd imagine the general running and maintenance of these vehicles to be more difficult to achieve?

You can/should be able to unbolt the inlet housing, and turn it round so the outlet points a different direction, it's probably dowelled, though, so you'd have to redrill it.

Straight up might be a better direction, then up and over the top? Or like flapper sez:

Really not sure about not running a dump valve, I have no experience of not running one, but I would say it was mechanically unsympathetic at best. How much is a replacement turbo?

Hi Flapper.

I did look at all sorts of routes for the piping. Trying to guess sizes and angles of pipes etc. But it is very tight where the shock tower is. It's very hard to "picture" the pipes when you don't have it as it all had to be custom ordered.

Love the old school roadsters as well.:D

Will get some video once it's running and moving!

tumble dryer outlet hose / carboard cut in 45/90/135 angles and some gaffer tape :) always helps me route stuff about as i prefer it all steel/ali piping and flex where it joins unless it's going to move a lot


i'm at work at present but when i'm home ill try a Pshop of something

Managed to get all pipes and leaks sorted today.

So run her up to temp. A lot of crap in the engine. So just a matter fill, empty,fill.... Still not finished. but getting cleaner.

Getting there!

Drive shafts and clutch slave next. Needs bleeding. But won't be for a month now.:(

Got a little update. :D Driveshafts in. Having trouble with the clutch at the minute. Hoping it's just an adjustment at the pedal. But not had a chance to look at it. I have an adjustment on the pedal that worked on the T16 with the same problem. Wind out adjustment on push rod giving pedal and rod more travel.

Meet up with the AAautosport guys when taking the car to Zorstec for exhaust.:biggrin1: Great bunch of guys to talk to both Zorstec and AAautosport. Even got an Exhaust made in the process. :D Quality of work was 1st class. The amount of work that goes into an exhaust when made from scratch. :eek: Even the silencer.

Similar design as before.. Could not decide on what why to go with the exhaust. Liked the original design so kept with that. Requirments: 3" straight through, quite for track use, free flowing & bigger outlets than original. Got manifold headers made while I was there as well. :D

The inlet manifold is a polished one I bought from a guy on here. I need a bracket welded on the inlet for the accelerator cable. Anybody know of some local welders that can weld ally.:D

The exhaust manifold was custom made when I got the exhaust done by Zorstec.

Had the car mapped on the 24/3/10. Made 296BHP/260 lbft with boost controll issues and a leaky exhaust manifold gasket. So a little more to come if I want it!

Also, not the best map in the world (bit rough at low revs). So looking at getting it on the rollers pretty soon.

Main thing I need to do really now, is sort out the engine stablisation. The one fitted (between gearbox and chassis, custom made one) is not working. Nice "clonk" when doing a sharpish pull off.

But everything is holding together. No leaks etc. And having a great deal of fun in it.:D
