Connecting Ipod

I wonder if you can help?

I have a 2007 Ibiza 1.4 Sport, with an Alana CD Headunit. The car does not have an AUX in, but instead on the headunit has the option for 'CD Changer'.

I have heard that you can get a device that uses the CD6 button on the headunit and you can connect it to your ipod - does anyone know about this or has anybody used this?

If not, has anyone connected an ipod to the Alana headunit - NOT via an FM trransmitter (as the sound quality is pants).

Thank you

here you go matey http://www.ipodcarkitdirect.co.uk/iPod_Car_Kit/For_Factory_Fitted_Radios/Seat_iPod_Car_Kit
first option is the one to go for, although it is expensive

If you just want the sound to come out without any song info etc then follow this thread:
http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=127865&highlight=aux+alana

connect your audio jack plug to pins 18 (GND), 19 & 20 and then ground pin 14, so when you press cd6 now, the headunit thinks there is a cd changer connected and plays whatever comes through the sound signal pins.

Hope that helps

I bought a cable from ebay that had pins 18, 19 and 20 already wired with a 3.5mm jack at the other end! There is no wire or pin in slot 14, do I have to buy one and any idea where I can get one from? Where can I earth it to?

to be honest with you, I made my lead at work before I knoew about the pin 14 earth thing so I just pushed a wire into the pin 14 cavity and earthed it to the threaded aligning stud coming out of the back of the headunit and it works a treat, bit of a bodge mind...
But thats the most basic way of doing it and it works so its up to you how much of a better job you choose to do

Hi, sorry to be a pain, but I'm also looking to conect my ipod to my 'Alana MP3' headunit using the CD6 button seeing as I don't use a cd changer. I have read the threads in the links above but i wanted to make sure i had the right connector. :)

Could i just ask, where did you get the connectors and cable from in the first place? and if from ebay, have you got a picture of what it looks like?

Thanks

I went ahead and bought the cable, earthed it up and now it works a treat
