Coolant temp sensor query

Hi folks

Looks like the coolant temp sensor in my Ibiza TDI 130 sport is faulty.

Other than going to a SEAT dealer (nearest is the best part of a 4 hour round trip!), is there anywhere else I might be able to purchase one? Is there likely to be anywhere O/L? Anyone out there know the part number?

Must admit it's a pain up the bum, not having a local dealer!

You should be able to mail order one from Euro Car Parts for definite, and German and Swedish can probably do the same.

And then there's these guys - don't know if they do mail order though, but they're part of VW UK as I understand it, and deal with anyone, not just the trade: http://www.thetradepartsspecialists.co.uk/index.php

And if all else fails, maybe a Seat dealer would send you one mail order?

I've checked Euro Parts and they don't appear to stock them.

So I'll give option 2 and 3 some thought.

Though from my experience of Seat dealers, they are not known to be very helpfull (unless there's money in it for them!).

PS. What did you mean by "and German and Swedish can probably do the same"?

Use a local VW or Skoda dealer if your SEAT dealer is useless. They are about £60 + fitting as I had mine done 2 weeks ago.

Emm... Just had a look at where it is situated. Pretty tight working area to say the least! Considering it's a "relatively" cheap garage repair.... think I will wait and see if it gets any worse. At the moment, it only does it about every 5/6 starts and even then, the car starts fine. If it starts doing it all the time, then I'll speak to my trusty local Ford garage (only garage within a reasonable distance for me).

"if your SEAT dealer is useless" it's not really that. Nearest is about 70/80 miles! Though your suggestion of a Skoda dealer sounds a good one, there's one in Dumfries, only 15 or so miles away.

German and Swedish Car Parts - www.gsfcarparts.com, IIRC.

With regards to Euro Car Parts, phone them - if you've just gone by what they've got listed on their website, this is nowhere near what they stock.

They've quoted me on these sensors in the past for a 130 Passat, so can't see the Seat item being any different tbh.

As said already try your nearest VW dealer - just give them the engine code and the year of the car - it will be the same part and same price. GSF and ECP both (I think) do free delivery on on-line orders - so if the VW route does not work for you, then find out the VAG p/n - phone up GSF and/or ECP quoting that number, then order it on-line - or just submit a parts enquiry on line from them then order.

BTW, your local Ford dealer will be able to order it in using the VAG TPS mentioned already - that is who they were set up to serve.

this really isn't that difficult and I would change this if you're in the north east but would suggest you give it a shot - all it takes is removing some of the induction piping and its pretty easy after thatr
