Hi guys,

Im itching to get rid of my crappy standard 16's on my 2002 leon. Im a little unsure about buying 18's as i dont want the car to look like a 4x4 but i think with the right tyre size they shouldd fit well?, opinions?

Im looking at these two lenso's and a pair of dezents. My leon is red so im after black wheels, what do you guys think?

It wont let my add a url so i'll just put the name, if anyone could google it and have a look that would be much appreciated

One is the Dezent motion in black, 18".

One is Lenso rs5 in black 18"

One is Lenso d1r MBRG 18"

Thanks

It will look like a tractor if its not lowered.

I trial fitted my 18's last weekend...a 18 with a 225/40/18 is actually smaller diameter than a standard LC 16 with standard trye.

Adam - Did you give the suspension time to fully settle? it can take a few days at the worst of times. I cant see The 18's with 40 profile tyres been much less the the 16's with 55's.

Matt - Is that on standard suspension, it looks pretty good too me, not much arch gap.

CupraR210,DJM - Far too expensive for a common oem alloy, although they do look very good.

I'm not talking about the suspension as I used coilovers so can go down what ever [prob 45-50mm at the mo]

An 18 is not a lot smaller no but its definatly smaller than a 16 with a 55 profile as I stood them side by side :)

Ok, so what do you mean then? Why would it look like a tractor with 18's on standard suspension? The only problem i can see is the overall wheel circumference been smaller as you say, so the gap inbetween the tyre and the arch is bigger.

You said the car would look like a tractor with standard suspension then in the next post said you not talking about suspension, im lost :)

I mean excatly what I said........It would look stupid on standard suspension

I tried mine on with the coilovers wound up [so still lowered but not much] and that looked a bit odd without it being lower.

I'm sorry if I wasn't clear I just mean it would look a bit silly on 18's and not lowered IMO.

So would 17's be better or the same thing?

Would it be a soution to find 17's with 50 profile tyres or 18's with 45's? is that possible?

It would look same but with smaller wheels.

If you don't mind the big arch gaps then go for it its only my opinion that it will look a bit silly and you might not mind how it looks :)

Surely the larger profile will fill the arch gaps, making them look better.

Is the reason you think the car will look crap on standard suspension with 18's because of the arch gap? Surely the over all hight of the car from the floor wont be higher, in fact with the smaller overall circumference it should be closer to the ground. But the larger profile should fill the gap?

Im just asking advise as i dont want it to look stupid and i dont want rock hard suspension any more.

I edited it at the same time as you replying.

Im not been funny, im actually asking your opinion :)

Im worried about spending money and the car looking ****, bu ti thought i could overcome the arch gap by getting bigger sized profiles? What do you think?

Well if you look at the facelift cupra's they have 17's with a 45? profile as standard I think so that would give you a good idea of ride height. :)
