Hopefully this weekend im gonna ditch my airbox and fit an induction kit, but have a few questions if anyone can help i would be greatful.

1. Seen a halfords cone filter for 25 quid, which was recommended by a few other users on here, but i have heard about MAF failure due to overly oiled filters in the past, is this something i need to worry about?

2. The auxilary air pipe that fits into the airbox, i think im gonna but a smaller filter on there but need to check the Ø first, but, what have people done with this pipe? Is there anywhere to clamp it up out the way as i dont want to remove it completly?

Any help would be great.

Cheers

I pressume it's just the sound your after? As iam sure you will get no performance gains A good person to speak to would be damo if you have not spoke to him already, as he has done what you are asking.

Yeah just for sound, its leading up the the exhaust and the remap.

I just dont find the cupra very vocal at all, one of its downsides i suppose.

And looking to improve throttle response as i dont think the cupra engine revs that freely either

I wouldn't put an oiled filter on at all (though lots of people have ra\n them)... I had a Ram Air max flow kit on my Mk3 and it was fine, it also came with a casing to shield from engine heat.

I also had a bracket fitted as excessive vibration xcan also cause MAF problems.

1. Don't over oil the filter and you'll be fine.

2. Add a crank case breather filter to the end, think its about 19mm Ø. What I've done is trapped it under the enigne cover as my filter some times gets dislodged going over bumpy grounds.

Exactly what Ric said. Add a crank breather to the pipe that goes to the airbox. Or just rip the whole SAI out ;)

The Halfords filter is not oiled so you wont have any problems with it.
I've been using it since before christmas with no problems.

Dont think heat soak would be much of a problem because of the intercooler being so good.

Whats the sound once fitted?

You wont have any problems with heat soak mate as the FMIC is so good.

Its normaly people with the crappy SMIC and N/A cars that suffer from heat soak.

Even on very hot days I see no more than 35C intake temps.

It will sound so much better with the induction kit on :) as everyone say's it has more DV sound and turbo spool :)

Here is my car with a cone induction kit and miltek exhaust http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KkH3lS-Ebtk

Is yours a resonated or the non-resonated, Si.

Is it just the cat back or the full turbo back system?

Edit: scrap that mate. Forgot who the last owner of your cas was for a second. Full turbo back it is.
