Im sorely tempted with the Milltek dpf replacement pipe and matching remap - I know it gives 240bhp+++ HOWEVER while the 16v tdi is potentially a 300bhp engine does anyone know the limits of the clutch, gearbox and other associated drivetrain parts?
I know of a remapped Cupra which spins up the standard clutch - is a tuned FR going to wreck itself

Who is doing the map?? How much will it cost Dave? As for the clutch is it the same as a cupra one? I thought diesel ones were heavy duty?? Should be ok for a while on a newish car...
Also have you asked about invalidating your waranty? Or what bits of the warranty it affects?

I bet the clutch will once again be the limiting factor[:@] - i car'nt wait for custom code's DPF software , and i believe it's getting closer - have you got a little secret dave LOL:whistle:

I think the major factor in this one is that you won`t get any of the niggles of the dpf playing up? However plooms of smoke out the exhaust instead...
There look like a few different options on milteks site from just the pipe to a full system[B)]

Speak to Kev at Revo. There have been threads about this before. Should probably be ok as long as you dont drive like a tit

Clutch is the only weak part that will need sorting as it is only rated at about 300lb torque as it`s still only 240mm drive disc same as the PD130/150/160 but the pressure plate and DMF have been slightly altered. You can remove the DPF and get it mapped now if you don`t mind having the engine warning light on which that can be removed with some fiddling behind the dash.

apparently the milltek pipe has bits and bobs to take wires and sensors so no engine light issues. there is an agent in NI who has a car on the road with the dpf removed and its all ok so far at 248bhp. im just concerned about leaving my gearbox in the middle of the road somewhere

The milltek pipe can take all the wires you like but the ECU will still know the DPF isn`t not working as the censors will be giving reading outside of the safe parameters. If the agents car in NI is running 248bhp from a stock turbo he is full of bullshite as the PD170 still uses the same basic Garret GT1749 as on the PD140/150/160 but clocked at a different angle and some very minor internal changes.

well I'm well interested in this. Anything between 220-250bhp is better than my standard fr at 190bhp. Plus the bonus of no dpf issues is the major factor even tho my dpf light has never come on..... Touch wood.
Well may even get better economy from a more free flow exhaust without the dpf.
It's looking about £1000 for full turbo back exhaust and remap, which is not too bad.

I might be wrong but i thought they are using the newer common rail engine not the PD170 engine.
I had'nt relaised that Common rail were that far in the production release for racing - will have to track down more data. ...............................!!
by the by how's the twin turbo set up going??

Anyone had the DPF removal done.

Got my FR TDI on Sat and am thinking of getting the DPF removed and getting the Milltek down pipe. Just wondering if anyone has had this done and experienced and problems etc. Also what improvements has it made if you've had no problems.
Has anyone had an MOT done with the DPF removed and did it pass te emissions test ok.
Thanks
Peter:)

You will almost certainly invalidate the warranty though, its a gamble I know, remapping is one thing that the average dealer may not see or turn a blind eye to, but dpf removal is something else imo, after warranty expires I may do it myself, but my local vag specialist talked me out of it, and he has a fr tdi the same.

Just mentioned the warranty really, and the fact that as I have never (yet) had any problems with my dpf.
He also has custom code (dealer) and says he likes the fact he has no soot, and even though a major mechanical fault is rare (but does happen) like a turbo, (Not suggesting in any way that a code, or dpf could or would cause this) Then warrenty would not be valid in a claim to vag.
When the warranty is out then I may do it, I am interested in the fuel claims of an extra 10mpg, and a little more power. However I really do like the fact that I don`t leave a cloud behind me when I accelerate like I do in the wifes ibiza
