Thrashing the car when the oil is low!

This forum is full of people that know there stuff and above most are dedicated enthusiasts that know how to look after an engine, Your question has been answered and you will find the answer in what you wrote yourself!
Your only young and you have alot to learn i accept this you just have to accept were we are all coming from oil is the life blood of any engine abuse it and neglect oil quality and level your doing your engine no favour! And by the way V tec engines require the upmost care! under or overfill one of those screamin things and you have issues my friend! Wish you all the luck but just use ya common sense and listen to people on here this is one of the most knowlegeable forums around!

just got it scanned by vagcom - quick result i got were two fuel injectors and the lambda sensor. going to get the fault codes emailed and will look them up. quick question would Tappits show up on Vagcom and would thicker oil quieten the engine down a little as its too noisy

Cant believe this :headhurt: only use the oil thats right for the engine[:@], As a turbo needs oil to live its going to need the right oil for lubrication to live a LONGER life .... Did you wipe the fault codes before you got the codes out ? if the engine is REALLY noisey then it seems a full service is in order OR you have goosed the top end with lack of oil in the first place ! Also if you have put as much oil in as you say you did have you drained the oil and re-filled to correct level ?

I think your engine/turbo is shafted!!!!!! You baught a bit of a lemon there!!

nope didnt rewipe anything just got it scanned. the guy just came and scanned and said here you go. didnt cost anything though? think im going to just sell as it is.. make a loss i dont mind

Two fuel injectors problems will make it sound rough as!!!

Tappits wouldn't show up i'd have thought tbh.

Depending on the spec of the car you maybe able to strip and make the money back
Lots of parts overly expensive from dealers and second hand bits do the job
If its a cupra R, i would like another set of wheels for the track:whistle:

Ive seen HVA's cause 'worsening emissions during warm up stage' faults to be logged but thats on BMW's and is fixed by replacing them.

I won't even go into the underfilling/overfilling malarky.
I would advise using the correct grade of oil though as thats what the engines designed to run on and its correct/optimum operation is based on this even those lovely HVA's, if the engine sounds wrong with the correct oil in then theres something wrong with it lol.

Dont put the wrong oil in to silence it so you can sell it otherwise you might as well place your stetson upon your head, put your gun back in its holster, jump on your horse and mosy on down to the O.K. Corral :p

A little scathing.
I went to check my oil two weeks ago, and the shitty little plastics guides broke off the dipstick, straight down the hole.
Did oil (5w40 fully synthetic) and filter change, but couldn't see the bit of plastic. Put three litres in, left it for 10 mins, but oil didn't register on stick.
Took her out for a slow test drive, everything fine unitl I went round a round about and red oil light came on, then went out after 3 seconds. Took very slow drive back home, topped up with 1/2 litre.
Seemed fien until Sunday, when orange oil light came on, parked up left it 15 mins but still can't see oil on dipstick, and yes I've checked for leaks and nothing!!! Could it be that little bit of plastic???

Anyway, back to to topic, drain your oil mate, and while your at it, take the little guides of the dipstick. hopefully you haven't blown any seals, has the engine managment light come on? And how bad is the engine noise?

Did you get it hooked up to VAG-COM yet or have any diagnostics performed on the car?

Speaking from experience, VTEC needs oil too :D. It's crucial for those engines to be correctly filled with the correct oil, they run at very high temps. You can always tell when a VTEC engine is going as it'll puff alot of smoke out on VTEC. There is a misconception that you can do no maintenance to Honda engines and they'll still run, not the case sadly, a poorly serviced example might not make 80,000 but on the flip side, a correctly serviced example will run way over 200,000.

What ever car you got, you've learnt a lesson so lets concentrate on fixing the girl. Get the diagnostics up/fault codes and we'll see what we can do :)

engine management light isnt on? oil light comes on all the time. and noisy... uhmm diesel engine noisy lol. got the Vagcom done still not got the exact codes but it said fuel injector 1 + 2 and also the lambda sensor. im guessing injectors but waiting for the exact codes to diagnose the fault. i dont mind spending £200 or so to fix it and get rid because the car should be worth something when its sweet

thats my opinion i should have bought one? not what everyone agrees on but bulletproof engines. and a tuned vtec is very quick?

and for that price it was from a fleet auction. as i said im trade so not going to pay the full expected price because i wouldnt make anything? as said before the car was ok untill i cocked it up so like i said my mistake. and as for ban on what basis? for stating my opinion on a vtec? thats a bit sad if you can only see seat. should give an open verdict on all cars as there is always going to be a better car out there regardless of what you drive

as said, only bulletproof with the right levels of oil!!

No one doubts the vtec is a good engine but the LCR can be very good too if treated right.

Should've bought something that was'nt knackered. Do VTEC's run without oil?
