Engine Coolant Sensor Problem + Lambda Sensor Problem

Hi guys, my car has just gone in for MOT, and has failed on these two sensors.

Lambda sensor, and Engine Coolant Sensor.

I'm being quoted £100 for the lambda fitted, and £160 for the Engine Coolant Sens.

Seems strange as the lambda is 60 quid part, and the engine coolant sens is only like £20?

Do these prices seem ok?

I'm also thinking about doing it myself - are these easy to change on a 2001, 1.6 sport Seat Ibiza? Anyone had to do it before? Thanks in advance!

Also, can they fail the car on these things? As the car drives ok, other than if you try and restart the engine after a drive while it is still warm- then its dodgy.

I can see why it would fail on the Lambda sensor due to emissions, but cant work out why a coolant sensor would fail an MOT.

Its a 5min job to replace anyway!

Neither are too difficult. The prices particularly for the coolant sensor fitted seem over priced. I've done both on my 1.6 sport without a problem. I've also got a spare lambda sensor for sale in the adds section that you might be intererested in.

Lambda sensor is over £100 if it's the one before the cat, cheaper if it's after.

The coolant sensor is £5 and can be fitted yourself, but as said it shouldn't fail an MOT on that. Go back for your free test and never go back there I would say!

im pretty sure that the coolant sensor effects the running from cold so it will prob effect emmisions hense a fail

Im having my coolant sensor changed on monday and the place is charging me £22.50 and that includes the price of the sensor so what they have quoted you is very very expensive

mine passed an MOT with a broken CTS, cheap fix.
