Make sure you try and lock the IC down as tight as possible by pressing on the locking tabs with a suitable tool. Spend plenty of time on this and be careful. This is what provides the contact force for the carbon boots
Sticky buttons are easy to repair. It will be a residue left by a spilt drink. The buttons and the mating faces just need to be wiped with an alchohol solution and they will be as good as new.
Hi, try www.BBA.com (01634 230055) they recon they can fix climate display's for about £100. not sure if this is a good deal, but if it's your only option, may be worth a try.

same thing happened to mine stiking buttons. blamed dealer i bought car from as i noticed it made them sort it cost them £408 for part then labour for a SEAT garage to fit and program it as i bought car from vauxhall dealer

I picked up a dodgy one for £55!! Had to return it as it had a huge ink blot on the screen - seller reckoned it happend in postage, I'm not so sure and think the picture he had on auction was simply not the one he sent.
