if work hadn't moved from around the corner to 50+ miles away I wouldn't have considered the TDI version

Never had smoke as I used millers.
It didnt sound like a tractor.
I never got much soot, nothing that a once a week wash down wouldnt sort out and after a remap it was smoother than my standard 1.8T and revved all the way to the end of the limited which i think is 6k.
At the end of the day mate a 1.8T is a great car
The 1.9TDI is also a great car,
If you do short distances, Dont mind paying more on tax AND insurance and are looking to stay petrol then the 1.8T is for you.
Do anything over 150 miles a week, Dont mind that it sounds different, Looking to save on the tax and insurance and save on fuel costs get the derv.
