blowing boost pipes

Just fitted the new turbo to my car. Garrett GT1749VA from the standard KKK, it keeps blowing boost pipes left right and centre!

Ive drilled a whole in the SMIC metal pipework so that the excess pressure can excape but its still not enough. Now it keeps blowing the pipe off which connects to the intercooler at the bottom.

Is there a quick fix for this?

Spoke to Bill and possibly there is an equivilant to a N75 valve on the PD130? If i can find this and disconnect it, the car should run low boost for a while? where is it??

Before my old turbo went it was running aprox 185bhp... on a Ptorque stage 1

DRILLED A HOLE IN THE INTERCOOLER!? WTF?! :D

Please tell me you've not just caused an intentional boost leak in your pipework????!!! You need to focus on the problem with the clips, not try and install your own DIY boost valve! If you want no boost, unplug the MAP sensor in the intercooler and it will run in limp mode with 0.1 bar boost....

The pipe which connects to the turbo (IC outlet) and the metal pipe which goes to the SMIC i recplaced with some forge piping as this was a cheap fix compared to the 85quid standard pipe. This kept blowing off if attempting more than half throttle. So i sorted that out.

Now the problem has moved along to the next pipe. Even though the pipe was like brand new it rips straght out of the cooler no matter what.

Now stupidly... yes... i caused myself boost leaks (to releive pressure) and it still rips clean out of the cooler. I cant understand it, it appears as if the turbo is just pushing to much pressure out and the pipes cant cope? the only way forward is FMIC?

My car ran apsolutel fine on SMIC with the KKK turbo... i cant see why the pipes would fly off surely the airflow should be ok?

*yes i know it sounds completely rediculous! im just at a lost cause with my car at the moment as i need it on a day to day basis and its been out for a whole 7 days :O, not thinking straight.

The only other modification i have done is block the EGR to exhaust gasket, until i can aquire a EGR removal kit.

Help a n00b here! Done well to remove and refit a turbo me thinks :p (aswell as clean the egr, inlets etc...)

Why did you replace the turbo? What was wrong with the first one?

If you've just swapped to a new turbo and there are now boost problems (overboost) then I suspect you've done something wrong with the install and it's running without any control. Even if it's a bigger turbo the ECU and map sensor should control it to the same boost as the previous one.

The KKK broke, so had to get a replacement. Hmmm im stumpt

Just as an update, i have secured the pipe into the intercooler, no problems now and the car hasnt lost another pipe yet. Not running full power as i am leaving the hole in the metal pipe for now until i am confident that its a 100% fix.

Once i get some money i will replace the pipework with custom. But the small bend pipe is over £70 quid could fabricate custom work for less!

Try using different hose clips. Don't use the worm drive ones if your having problems use the heavy duty ones. Pipes normally blow if the silicon doesn't have a decent lip to mate too.
