I am getting a noise from the front when coming to a stop which I assume is the pads wearing down and needing replacing however there is no warning lights on the dash. I have covered 28k miles.

Am I right in presuming the pads need doing?

Sorry this sounds really lame but me and mechanics dont mix......

Have you had the front replaced yet? If you look at the pads through your alloys you should be able to see if they are worn, I'm guessing they are after 28k but ive only covered 15k in my Leon so not sure how good they wear.

Take your car to a garage if your not sure, most garages look at them for free now as "safety checks" and are no obligation, so you can shop around for the best price for replacing if needed.

I've done 70k miles in my FR TDi and I'm still on the same disks and pads so interested in others replacement miles and times.

Near Reevo :)
I've had this...

The break sensor is *only* on the passenger pads ... usually (for me at least) the drivers side wears more (ESP stopping the wheels spinning when pulling off / roundabout slides breaking the inside wheels)

Driver side pad 100% worn - through to the metal backing and destroying the disk at the same time..
Passenger side 65% worn..

Forgot to say that after I had mine done at approx 20k, there was no connection on the car for the wire on the new pads.

is it a squeal or a grinding sound?

Went to quick fit and they checked them out and said there is loads of life left in them - I do alot of motorway miles hence the high mileage.

The sound is not a squeeling or a grinding as such you can just hear it when you put the brakes on, not noticed any deterioration in braking performance.

If you are worried about the noise, take it to the dealer, they will have a look at them for you.

Mine where squealing alot a couple of months ago and I was passing my dealer took it in and they had a quick look at them and said it was a build up of brake dust, to clean, re grease and refit £25, I didn't bother and did it myself, they are as quiet as a mouse now.

Youve probally got a different sound completely but I'm sure the dealer will be able to point you in the right direction.

Didn't quick fit give you any idea on what it might be?

Could be a small stone or something stuck between the pad and disc, I know a couple of people that have had this problem, mind you none of them where SEAT's

Only had to have the pads changed today as pletty of life remaining in disks, still had 20% remaining on the pads too!!!

The brake feel is back now!!
