Hmmm, good point. But, it's not a set map, though. It doesn't "just" set timing based on what the IAT is reading?

So lets say your ECU sees 30'C at the IAT, and can run 7' timing (or whatever). With the nozzle further back, it sees 25'C, but finds it knocks when it tries to run 7', so it winds back...?

Hey. Try it, see what happens. It's THE only way to find out.

No, but if it does it's evaporation thang before the TB, that's just cooling the intake air, if it does it in the combustion chamber, it's doing it's "add to the RON of the fuel" thang - which has got to be the better of the two effects?

Probably talking out of my...

Two things
Cooling the charge
delivering an evenly dispersed load of methanol into the cylinders.

In my case, I am trying to deliver substantially more methanol than is needed to cool the charge. In an ideal(ish) situation - it would be better with two nozzles, the second one just after the tb to deliver methanol. I have seen 1.8Ts with a nozzle in each inlet manifold runner.......

Yeah, me too. After the IAT, then :bleh:

Like Bill says, I personally wouldn't want a setup that was too complicated.

Try it, or leave your's nicely set up..

Well my air-con was blowing out warm air, so rather than pay £45 and take it to Kwik-fit and let the monkeys on my car, or £80 at Star - I bought one of these EZ Chill measure and charge cans off ebay for £16.99 (Halfords want £40 - yeah right!). Guess what ... it worked! After 10 mins my air-con is now blowing out freezing cold air again - job done! :D

Still running the Bailey DV26 fully atmospheric twin-piston blow-off valve - no codes or engine lights whatsoever, not even a pressure drop code, it holds 1.5 BAR of boost no problem and sounds great. ;)

Rob, with advancing your timing, log for CF's push the timing .75o log again, rinse and repeat till you start seeing CF's then slack it back. I managed to push mine 7o further than revo stage 9 at 9 timing.

My air con is down so i shall get one of them cans, thanks for the tip:) It was either that or take it out for weight!

Also as you have you used a servo in your setup?

WoW, nice going dave! Iv been meaning to get out in mine again since i have done a few more bits. Should get my new (slightly bigger) nozzels from Bill soon :) My WMI mix is only about 10% of my fuel. John said aim for 15% so hoping for nice resuts from the exta cooling.

GL with advancing Rob :)

You gonna keep on advancing dave or you worried about your rods?

Im running +4.75 with no WMI would love to see how much i could advance mine if i run this setup.

But to echo whats said above, you need to log 020 and see what theyre looking like before touching the timing.

Dave you seem to have got yours working well now, im looking forward to getting my problems sorted so i can play again.

my aircon was working well but it isnt now :) i had it drained so i can remove it.

It's not increasing my max torque, Phil, just giving me more torque up the rev range. (But yes, that box of rods in the bottom of my wardrobe is crying 'fit me'. :hide: )

50/50 on mine when on me7 and was able to add 12 degrees of timing on 2.2bar of boost back then

What's the maximum optimum advance, Bill?

I thought about removing mine too - how hard a job is it? You'd have to get a shorter timing belt wouldn't you?

shorter ancillary belt from a golf i believe.... its not a hard job Rob and better cooling with the rad removed, not to mention what must be a 20/30kg saving
