Hi guys. Still fairly new here, but I need more power! Currently have a Jabba stage1 remap giving me 196bhp 266lb/tq (supposedly according to graph) with 3" D/pipe, 2.5" exhaust, Forge TIP, Forge recirc, Cone Air filter and now Uni FMIC. Ideally I want as close to 300 as poss. What power can standard internals take? And would my best option to go down the K03 hybrid route? Ive come from a Corsa Turbo and I love this car to bits, just need to get it up to scratch :funk:

one of these threads again which makes me want to stay away again...

power standard internals can handle: search

your options would be k04 hybrid, good for over 300 and k03 hybrid somewhere along 280hp, but a lot cheaper to build.

this gets covered on a weekly basis btw with extensive lists of parts, where to get them and costs.

I can appreciate this may have been covered many times over was just looking to clarify everything thats all..

Reuvers has gave you the basic info, here's a bit more

standard turbo + map = ~200
k03s turbo, fmic & zaust (other stuff too) = ~240
k03(s) hybrid, mani, injectors, DP etc = ~280

do some searching, look at Backdraft's, (IbizaAlex IIRC), H17och, Badger5 (Ibizacupra) they run silly high power. The badger wagon runs about 600bhp!

just a quick search needed mate ;)

If you wants 300bhp, ditch the uni cooler and get a Forge one! Most of us run that! Some run a pro alloy one, and I think Myki ran a Laguna one. The Uni one is pants IMO! And IIRC, it's only good for around 250bhp(ish)

Is there any real hard evidence of the Uni ones being pants? I ran that exact same intercooler on my old Corsa Turbo which had switchable Phase3.5 on and it never missed a beat. Plus, when I purchased it, it was rated up to 350bhp. Also, If 200bhp is possible from the standard intercooler, these Uni ones which are twice the size in length and half a size more in height it should be more than capable of 300bhp IMHO. Im just going by personnal experience, no one jump down my throat! :think:

It's not from personal experience, just something I'm sure I've read somewhere! If you think the uni one is big, then the forge one is Mammoth LMAO

Admittedly, its not big no. But im sure in my tiny little mind its big enough for the job of what im after. If im totally honest, the Forge ones are no doubt a fantastic bit of kit. But, the actual surface area thats able to get air is the same as these Uni ones, so the top half of the Forge ones are not doing a whole lot for cooling the air being stuck behind the crash bar and bumper.

not if you drill mammoth holes behind the number plate like a few have ;)

after all, you can only do 70 on public roads. People I know who drill holes do so because they regularly visit tracks :D (like I will be eventually)

Now that makes sense! I doubt ill be going on track and if I do, it wont be regulary. :happy:

The uni cooler is only rated upto 300bhp iirc but im not sure what its burt tested to...

more power = more boost which means more chance of it going bang...

and 200bhp is pushing the smic to its limit it can only just about handle the standard 156bhp from the factory...

the uni cooler is good for what it is a cheap fmic but imho if i was going past stage 2 and k03s i would be looking at getting somthing of better quality...

After all you wouldnt skimp on breaks of tyres would you...:whistle:
