Hi All, noticed an intermittent knocking noise coming from what i think is the drivers side front ARB. Got a feeling that the bushes have gone:(

Anyways, was just wondering if its easy to replace myself, how much the bushes are, and are the cupra one's different to standard ibiza items (iirc they are).

This noise only seems to happen when going over speedbumps and badly broken surfaces?

Car was MOT'd 3 weeks ago at Seat along with a Service and a cambelt change.

Would of thought something like this would be flagged up on the MOT????

Any help would be much appreciated

Cheers

I think there is only 2 bolts to remove to get to the bushes and there prob only a few ££ from SERE Motors.

Not exactly. But but your's sounds like the same symptoms as the Mrs' mk4 gold had and that was ARB bushes. Not hard to do just a PITA.

Cheers mate, gonna get it up on the ramps and have a look see if the is any play it the ARB tonight.

Read on other threads about engine mounts and top mount bearings making similar noises, but i cant see it being anything that serious to be honest.

Top mount bearings could also make some strange sounds. Are you running coilovers? If so did you raplace the top mount bearings when you fitted the coilovers?

Milage?

If its not ARB bushes and it is top mount bearings then the whole suspension strut will need to come out to replace the bearings.

Anything could of happened since your MOT mate. One bump in the road could of finished off the bearings/bushes.

I replaced my top mount bearings when fitting coilover and the bearings I took out were on there last legs and they had only done about 37.5k.

Pot holes galour round by me matey, its shocking (what do we pay road tax for again?) lol

In that case i might just bite the bullet and spend a day doing the top mount if it is that causing the problem.
