Handful under heavy braking!

Had this problem for a while now, was not so bad when i had the standard cupra brakes on, just put it down to the discs being old (had a big lip) and possibly warped. Since i put the brembos on it feel alot worse. Braking hard for a speed camera tonight on the way home and i was seriously struggling to keep the thing in a straight line! Ended up half way across the other lane....not good!

Any ideas anyone? Could it be something simple like my tracking being off?

brake balance check (mot station) might be first stop, even just to see what it doing what etc

check calipers are free etc and fluid flowing and good condition etc

abs unit jammed up on mine from congealed fluid (standing a while) and became an issue after finsing problems bleeding fluis through a rear caliper

a good check and flush through first really and whilst there a good look at the parts

I know the front brakes were bled and changed with Badger 5's high temp fluid when the garage fitted the brembos....might take it to get the tracking sorted and see if that helps. Pads are not sticking either

so recent enough fluid then - mmm

while in for tracking get a brake balance check done, if it's far enough out to feel it and hold it then the machine will show how bad and what wheel at least

Heard too many horror stories from places like these, 17year old trainees being let loose on the general publics cars with BAD results. Might just take it to my local place where i get her MOT'd.

Is it possible it could just be the tracking out? I do have to steer slightly to the left to keep it straight when driving normally

as I said in your other post on this... wishbone bushes, tracking are the 1st things to check

The stock front wishbone (rear) bushes are soft as fcuk. you will be horrified when you watch your cars front wheel move physically back in the wheelarch, nearly touching the wheel arch, when braking hard. More so from better brakes

do you run rear spacers? they will aid rear stability under braking by squaring up the chassis wheel track

Are your dampers/springs too soft so the car dives too much.

If you have to steer left to drive straight, thats an obvious sign something is not right at all.

imagine ya walking the dog and he's constantly trying to sniff the wall pulling to the left a bit, then he see's a cat and is gone after it liek his life depends on it - he'll pull like hell left then no ?

Oh yeh of course, i know when the tracking is off, got some 20mm rear spacers going on this weekend, so i'll see if that helps out, but still i'll take it to get the tracking sorted at my MOT station and get them to check the brake balance aswell.
