Hey guys, im looking to lower my car next and having a look around here there seems alot of advice on what/how/where to get it lowered etc.
As im a student i dont have much (any) money  so im really looking for the cheapest way but for it to be still effective, i dont want it to handle like a boat but im mainly lowering it for the looks.

Iv seen sets like this on ebay for cheap and just wondering what people have to say about these type of kits?

If your lowering the car on the ebay springs an just gonna really put on some shorter springs then i dont think you need to change anything as i thought they were designed to work with the standard shocks. I might be wrong, but thats what i always thought.

you'll have to put new top mounts on, just to make sure the suspension seats correctly, becuase your old ones will probably be knackered anyway, i've got some 40 mm jamex springs on mine and it drives fine, i'm getting some coilovers in the near future, hence why i aint too fussed if the shocks become knackered

It is advised to buy uprated shocks if you are lowering your car. But you don't have to if you can't afford it. Your shocks will deteriorate faster than with standard springs, but not at a dramtic rate that you will have to replace them every service...

You do get a better handling set up with the shocks as well, but again if your on a budget it's the cheapest way to go just buying springs.

Oh and remember to put alignment check into your budget also unless you also want include buying tyres more regularly aswell ;)

my car is being slammed first thing tomorow,

i bought a set of cupra shocks with 60/40 lowering springs for £40, they are being fitted along wih a set of brake pads and discs for £50 labour wich i thought was a bargain,

oh and that includes camber and wheel alignment:D

good buy, bargain mate. getting them fitted from a garage or a mate?
