3" DP and decat + Remap

I emailed star performance yesterday to price a remap for my car!

My mate has a star remap on his almost standard cupra and it pulls really well compared to my other mate who has a revo remap!

So i thought i would email star listing my mods and ask for a price but when i got a reply he said he can't map my car because i have a 3" downpipe and decat which will cause boost issues!

Is anyone else running a downpipe and decat and got there car mapped?

I think i am going to ring gracies and see if they can put a custom code stage 2 map on my car.

thats a load of b*****ks. i cant see that causing boost issues. never have i heard that and i know loads of ppl running 3" dp and decats. myself included(was)

i've got a de-cat (not 3") and my CC phase 1 doesn't suffer any problems

id like to know how is a 3" dp going to cause boost issues...

only problem would be that the gases could flow to easy and wouldnt cause enough back pressure.

however this wouldnt cause problems with boost on a remap. if mapped correctly

Thats what i thought i remember when i posted in the custom code section they said i would need a new downpipe and cat if i was going stage 2! Will be giving them a ring today!

2.5 is said to be better but 3" is more free flowing but im not sure if thats too much more!

2.5 gives that lil bit more back pressure

There was a big discussion about this before that i had a read of about back pressure and pipe bore sizes...

the only problem i can possibly see with a 3" over a 2.5" is loss of a bit of low down torque due to less back pressure...

top end it should perform better due to the faster flow although its still a 2.5" for the rest of the system back so cant really see there being to much of a loss of pressure if atall...
