fortunatley I've got a 32mm socket as part of my socket set ;)

had fun changing the fuel filter the other weekend..... managed to undo all the torx bolts and prize the top off the housing, only for the filter to drop off and splah diesel everywhere inc my face !!!!

hehe. I have that to do as well.

Andy does the bowl come out of the engine bay easily enough. I want to drain all Diesel out of the bowl (as it may contain water and contaminates) then add some new diesel into the bowl once it is cleaned.

I didn't get that far mate, I just removed the top to allow me to remove the filter element and replace with a new one.

Did a 'full' service the other weekend, apart from the air filter, which I did this evening after taking delivery of a Green panel filter from a chap on here ho had used it for about 3k on his 2.0 TDi (170) Leon ;) NOt bad for £25 delivered :D

Yeah did that last summer I think !!! ;)

Also removed all of the restrictive pipe work/intake leading into the airbox.... keep meaning to sort out a 'proper' intake from behind the grille straight into the air box, as it is the air box has nothing attached at the mo, and just sucks air from behind the rad fans !!!

It does on mine, it's just on hangers, might require a reasonable tug up first time but you shouldn't have a problem at all.

Good idea on the draining, mine had some really bad looking black bits in it, surprise surprise it ran a tad better afterwards :)

Changed the the Oil and Oil filter today. the Oil filter cap was a bit awkward to get off once it was loose as it is under the inlet manifold, though it went on easier than it did to get off!

Also done the Fuel filter as well. Drained the bowl and gave it a clean out, then put the new filter in and filled the bowl with new diesel.

Thanks for the tips guys.

well I had changed the oil a few months back but not done the filter since I didn't have one at the time. got some Quantum Platinum oil plus filter the other week off David, I had the Fuel filter for some time but just didn't get round to doing it.

I do most of my service myself. only timing belts and hard jobs are left to the Seat Mechanic "Stevie Gaw" :)
