P-torque Remap with Uprated Sachs Clutch - FR TDI

Hi there, I get my work bonus in August and depending on how much I get I want a Sachs uprated clutch and a custom P-torque remap. I should get 325 ft lb of torque and around 180 BHP. I was just wondering if anyone has done this option and what is that much torque like? Eventually if I somehow get a bucket of cash (yeah right) I'd like to Hybrid with FMIC but that's another story. I think i'd be very happy with 325 ft lb of torque and that will cost only 1k. I have a non-resonated milltek de-cat downpipe + cat-back system. K&N panel filter. Another thing is that my current turbo has 103k on the clock so would a remap kill it? Comments please. Cheers. Ross

It was mapped in October I Do roughly 1,000 a month milage. I do mixed driving. but i enjoy the map :). The only thing i dont do... is launches. I think i have launched it about 5 times since the map, if i want the power i am rolling and at about 2,000 RPM :)

Not had clutch slip... but you do get wheel spin in 3rd if your not in a straight line :p

an LSD would compliment the map greatly i think.

As for a power comparision... TYPE R in my opinion.

Sounds good but I was planning on waiting until I've got the uprated clutch and getting the custom map with more torque. Not sure how much difference an extra 30 ft lb would make. Does it justify the cost of an uprated clutch? Hmm...

My high miler put out more power than some of the other PD130's which had more mods. Personally i would go for a standard map, and get the clutch as and when you wish. I wont clarify this but more bhp = more torque. the turbo itself isnt built to hold a great deal of power as it is so if your getting a clutch just to have more torque i wouldnt bother. Best way to justify a custom map is for hybrids. The standard map is perfect for a sachs clutch and most standard clutches. Its entirely your shout. T-Spark had a custom map and put over 200bhp through the standard turbo... it didnt last very long. I personally wouldnt want any more than 190bhp through it unless everything else is modded e.g. fmic, induction, exhaust. I dont know what the charge is on the Ptorque map these days, but if there isnt much in it between a custom and stage 1 then go for it. At least your car will be tuned to its best abilitys.

I have noticed during the hot weather the car feels as though its got less 'umph' as when i take it out after 9pm it feels a new car. So im guessing a FMIC is a good buy for the summer.

Just lolled at the type R comparison, not even in the same league for speed and also the P-torque rollers are way over rated!!!
Bet your not pushing more than 170 -175!!!#

I know, i've got the p-torque remap and my mate owns a type R.

I had the same thoughts - a little optimistic!

You work out BHP by taking the torque in ft lb and multiplying it by the rpm then dividing by 5252 I think. Might just get the map and not the clutch then. Cheers!

With a basic remap basssound do u think us Pd130 fr's could stick with a type R? Not that I dont trust you bbewekim, just like to have more opinions. My mate got his up to 170-180 Bhp and says he can stick with integra type r's between roundabouts.

The rollers are very accurate

On our last dyno day we ran 3 stock cars (1.8T's) and they made within 4hp either way of stock figures. Below is a graph from another dyno at another tuners from a 130PD running P-Torque stage 1:

I suppose the comparison against a Type R is difficult due to completely different engine and power delivery characteristics.

I'm not trying to cause a argument here but the type R has got high RPM's as an advatage, yes we do have torque us diesel boys but TBH the type R will always pull away from us in a straight line and murder us in a corner.

I will say that just for a remap, the ibiza is bloody quick, i'm quicker than my mates, they own stuff like mk2 gold gti 16'vs ect....

As for p-torque, not giving you and stick or anything, got my car sorted after the remap with the boost pipes blowing off, got the system fully sealed, your roler said 178bhp and 300+ lb^ft
but two other rolling roads have shown it at around 163bhp and around 290lb^ft.

Saying that, the clutch and flywheel have finally let go two days ago, must be karma lol!!

From a rolling start i keep up with my mates CTR no bother. Till around a ton 10 and he pulls away slowly..and he is a v.good driver.

i've had 3 remapped 130pd's now......all by upsolute

the latest FR we have has a low torque file. Reason is any torque over 400nm (300lb/ft) and you'll get terrible shudder and wait till cold weather. Thats when clutch will take hammer.

I opted for a torque output of approx 390NM to save clutch and make it more usable. The Ibiza is very light and very easy to wheelspin. I'd bet the difference is never noticed or missed. Even with this map car is very quick and pulls like a train.

My advice ........been there done it replaced the clutch, drive shafts, tyres.....

You can't beat rear wheel drive if you want good traction from a standing start

in a nutshell.....

just because your ibiza has more torques doesn't make it quicker.

shudder is wasted energy and there is a limit to what the std pistons, rods and crank can take.
