Engine mods to a 1.9 tdi PD130 BHP Alhambra

Hi,
I have a 1.9 tdi - 130 bhp Alhambra.

Have done a search and got confused.... can you help.

1) Other then chip tuning is there anything else people suggest to increase the power / refinement / fuel economy of the engine ? ( better air filter ?? / exhaust manifolds ?? )

2) Are the 1.9 Tdi (130 bhp) engines in the Alhambra the same as all Seats other 1.9 TDI cars that Seat make ?

3) Can the Alhambra cope with the extra power ? Does the gear box, clutch ect cope well ? Is there anything to watch out for that is specific to the Alhambra ?

4) Post chip tuning does the car need to be run on higher octane diesel ? Will I still be able to use cheap ASDA fuel ?

5) Does anyone have any personal experience of driving a modified 1.9 Tdi Alhambra ?

Firstly find your engine code.
it should be on a sticker somewhere under the carpet in the boot irrc.

If you have a PD130, then i would just do a search of what other people have done to PD130 engines in the TDI section.

I have an ASV 110 tdi (leon) so cant really help much more mate.

i can honestly say ,fit a panel filter ,it improves the airflow which improves accelaration,i have just bought a 2005 130 alhambra and will fit a tuning unit and a filter as soon as i get it,yes not all people like tuning units but if you pay £25 for one what do you expect

Can you expand on what tuning unit you are thinking about ? £25.00 seem very cheap ?
What does it do / give ?

i was being sarcastic ,do not pay £25 for a chip from ebay and expect it to transform the tdi,i have my own source for tuning units which i have fitted to every diesel i have owned ,my current 2007 civic has done 30000 miles with no problems just great fun

Stu B has modified his, have a look for that for loads of info.

Your 130 will be the same as other 130s, so general 130 remap/tuning advice applies as covered in the TDI and TDI Tuning sections on here.

An alternative to chipping/remapping is a "black box" which plugs in between the management unit and the pump.

I have one which I bought years ago for a 115 PD Sharan, made by HOPA of Germany. They used to be informally recommended by VW. It made a startling difference to the car's performance, driveability and economy. I switched recently to a 130 PD Alhambra and plan to fit the box to it, hopefully with similar results.
I do not know if they are still available in the UK but it was pricey 8 - 9 years ago (£300, if I recall) so may have lost the market to other suppliers.

what you are talking about is a tuning unit ,analogue ones are availible for as little as £20 but they are very crude ,digital ones can cost up to £400 (i used to sell tuning units until jan due to the poor euro rate)

analoge ones are basicly the "evry mod" or "beer mod", because it costs the same as a beer!

yep, resistors in a box work on the PDs, just make it over fuel by fooling the fuel temp sensor. Not the best way to improve performance. Theres loads about tuning boxes in the TDI section, read back through.

to be honest the analogue ones are very crude but if you at least buy an adjustable one they do a great job ,due to good digital ones being £300+ it is hard to justify the digital price

REVO it ......

and add a K&N filter / Then change the bore of the exhaust (remove the second box) and add a nice silencer - Job done ....
