Main Beam adjustment

Can the main beam aligment be adjusted on the cupra lights, for some reason mine seem to just light up the left hand side of the road and not alot ahead or to the right :(

Its pretty shocking imo and if it can be adjusted it would make them so much better :)

Cheers

I have a non cupra and it has a little slider near the headlight switch that adjusts it up and down.
Under the bonnet on the headlights themselves they should have plastic dials that you can adjust the lights up and down.

However the MK4 headlights are the worst I've ever seen. Consider upgrading the bulbs or getting HIDS

If you look under the bonnet at the back top of each light, you will see two white philips screws, one is hiden under the back of the bumper- have a good look round and you will see it. The inner one on each light controlls how far lefr/right the beam goes and the outer one up/down.

Its better to take it to a MOT station and get them do do it properly though, otherwise you migh be blinding drivers. should cost about £10.

You do realise that the beam pattern is higher on the left hand side anyway ?
To light the side of the road, yet straight ahead and right are lower to avoid dazzling oncoming traffic.

Yes i realise the dipped lights are, its the main beam that doesnt point forward at all, non of my other cars have ever done this and i find it shocking that on a fast car the lights are this bad..

The main beam cannot be adjusted independently, they are adjusted along with your dipped beam. The main beam on mine was shocking until I changed the bulbs... maybe one was not fitted squarely?

There are two white plastic adjusters on each headlight, the outside ones move the beam horizontaly and the inner ones vertically. You will need a 6mm allen key for these.
The beam should not be higher on the left, they should be even in terms of height but should dip to the left ie: aim slightly left when dipped headlights are on.

Best get them done by an MOT station on an alignment box. ;)

Main beam bulbs are H3.
The other thing I did was swap the bulbs around, this sounds silly but it has improved the beam in a couple of my cars. :)
