fuse 21 popping???

evening all,

twice this week,fuse no21 has popped and taken out my central locking n clocks etc,exactly as it says on the tin replaced both times but wondered if anyone has any ideas as to why it's doing it? seems to be when the ignition gets turned off thinking about it??

also,is there a CORRECT list anywhere on here of what fuse correlates to what?? the list as per the reverse of the glovebox tells slight porkies me thinks,stole the hazard fuse or so it said and lost my speedo/rev counter etc,the one in the haynes seems a bit more accurate but i'm sure the experts on here probably know more

Have a look inside your cigarette (spl?) lighter.....

I had a very similair problem with my old 1.4 Mk2, and even had the central locking pump replaced under warranty..... turned out that there was a small piece of metal from an in-car charger, that had fallen inside the lighter socket and was shorting it out which was causing the fuse to pop !

cheers Andy,will check it out but tbh i never use the cigarette lighter for anything,not even sure it works,well the lighter def doesn't!! fuse has popped again this morning although i only changed it last night as well,grrr!!

nope,nothing contaminating the lighter and it's gone twice since i posted so that's 4 fuses in a week and it definitely only happens on turning off the ignition but obviously not everytime. done it just this morning and i've had to go round and manually lock all the doors,i feel like such a pauper
