Well, its all fixed now. SEAT completely misdiagnosed it as a juddering flywheel. Luckily I went for another quote at an independant VW/Audi specialist, where all 3 workers who test drove it thought it sounded like a gearbox bearing.

They recommended a guy in Melksham who repairs nothing but gearboxes so I took it there, went for a test drive and he was 90% sure it was a bearing pack.

To remove, dismantle, install the new bearing, reassemble the box and put it back in....£350. He let me off the VAT as i paid cash. Bargain. Now its fine. Funnily (or not) he showed me the bearing that was screwed and it was all rough inside. On the top it read "Slovakia". Apparently VW, Audi, SEAT etc, they're all at it, putting cheap parts in places that theoretically will never be replaced, or that joe public has no idea about, to save costs, and has replaced such a part on a number of VWs, SEATs and Audis.

How much would that work of been with SEAT? Way over £1k. They'ed of replaced the clutch, flywheel and charged me nearly £1k and it wouldn't of even fixed the prob.

Scroates... :censored:

Std clutch only good for up to 300lbft really. its not the power that needs reducing its the torque! But you will ose a little power by reducing the torque.
