I might be paranoied or maybe not but it seems after doing only 4100 miles from new my leon has about 20-25 little stone chips on the front bumper none on the bonnet and thats a worry because I have the btcc kit and the garage I got the car from fitted and I dont think they sprayed some anti chip or what ever its called :D, should I take back? or has anyone else had issues like this? However it was a bad winter with alot of salt on the road but any thoughts?

hi mate, i would take it back and ask them if they did spray of the anti-stone chip spray... if not then i went down to my local BOOTS Chemist and asked the woman to look at the colour of my car and asked her if she could mix nail varnish the same colour.. worked really well and looks like new! good luck

HI thanks for the reply, I found the mix nail varnish part to match the colour quite funny, sorry :p, I got a touch up paint for it and it works well but its useless if I have to do every week, not once every few months, but yh I guess your right in the long run I better take back and get it done properly.

People often tell me it looks ridiculous but I have a full leather bonnet bra for the front of my cupra.

I often drive to/from germany and want to keep the car in good condition.

I also have a bonnet only bra for shorter journets to prevent stone/bug chips

Back from the dead
I'm glad someone else suffers with this as my car is absolutely terrible. I had the front resprayed last year with a new bumper after someone reversed into me. So front end is less than one year old as such. However with all the divots, scratches and chips it still looks 3 years old. We're on our 3rd windscreen in 2 years because of cracks. Only done 20k in 3 years and almost every journey get something hit us.

Next week car is going in for another front end spray (it's last), and I'm very tempted to get the front filmed up for it's last year with us.

Had mine done within the first 200 miles back in July 2007 with the full coverage stuff, expensive though. I have no damage to the front bumper / bonnet / wings at all. Best money I spent on the car as I know the front will be pristine. If you drive anywhere that poses a high risk of stone damage to the front, chip film is the best way to protect the entire front area whilst maintaining the OEM look. The bra is a good option if you are on a budget or have infrequent need for stone chip protection.

A lil while since I posted last on this, but we took it into the seat garage - no questions asked except one... when can we respray it for you? Thats how bad it was :( , left the car with them yesterday expecting back on friday.

That's a result fella - well done.

As others have said above, a clear protectin film is a solution that a few of us use.

Mine was done from new and I only have one small mark in 16 months of motoring.

Do it when the front is blemish free and before they (stone chips) start again!!

Yup free of charge, on warranty - They knew straight away it was a bad paint job..25-30 stone chips on the bumper and 1 on the bonnet couldnt be any more obvious and with only 4950 miles on the clock

Cars looking like it just came from a showroom great :), you could try taking down to local seat dealer it might still be on warranty? Pws n Rob - mine was down to excessive stone chippings, they also fixed the side skirts and resprayed the spoiler as you could see the ruff edges :/ and gave it a coat of polish - very nice people at Uddingston ( W.Livingstone.)
