Where is that written down?

thats exacly what i said dave, an the guy told me its because it all down to the type of journey you do e.g long distance whitch will self clean the DPF or short distance like to an from work were the engine doesn't get warm enough t self clean the DPF.

and another thing i found out is YOU SHOULD ONLY USE QUANTUM LONGLIFE III 0W30 IN THE 170 FR, WHITCH I WAS TOLD BY QUANTUM THEMSELVES,

I WAS SUPPLIED WITH QUANTUM PLATINUM 5W40 BY A SEAT DEALER TO SERVICE MY CAR, EVEN THOUGH IT SAYS ITS SUITABLE FOR ENGINES FITTED WITH DPF WHEN YOU READ THE LABEL ON THE BACK IT SAYS I QUOTE " VW,AUDI,SEAT AND SKODA VEHICLES FITTED WITH DPF REQUIRES QUANTUM LONGLIFE III 0W30.

SO ECAUSE OF AN INCOMPETANT DEALER ITS AIDED TO MY CAR GOING TITS UP BIG TIME.

LETS BE HONEST YOU EXPECT TO GET THE CORRECT OIL FOR YOUR CAR WHEN YOU'VE GIVE THEM YOUR CHASSIS NUMBER AN REG.

I AM NOT HAPPY AT ALL. IT JUST SEEMS TO GET WORSE

in my experience dealers are very poor at putting the correct type of oil in cars.
They tend to have 2 or 3 types that fit all!

well quantum who are the providers of the oil for vw,audi seat and skoda clearly state that the only oil that should be used in the tdi 170 fr is quantum longlife III 0w30. apparently any other oil cloggs up the DPF like mine has realy bad.

so im gunna contact quantum myself and ask them why seat dealers are handing out the wrong oil for the fr 170.

It's a SEAT problem, not a Quantum problem. VAG (as a group) provide the specification of oil for the engines, Quantum provide the oil and print the requirements on the bottle for the end user to read, and SEAT sell the oil. If SEAT sell you the wrong oil then that's not Quantums fault at all.

Your best course of action is to take it up directly with the dealer in question and follow it up to Seat.

When its sold to you it should be fit for the purpose and obviously what was sold to you is not. I would be back down to Seat and tell them they are paying for the regen.
Trading standards may like to hear about it if the dealer needs convincing!

The Vauxhall vectra Diesel's that were fitted with Dpf's had horrendous problems, With Dpf's clogging, They tried the same, But eventually issued a recall & installed new software which allowed regenerations on shorter journeys & it would also resume a regen if turned off mid flow Etc..

I must admit i had no troubles with mine afterwards (Apart from loosing Cars behind @ junctions During a Regen!!)

Hopefully seat will see the light a do something about it, After all, Even on long journeys nowadays your lucky if you can sustain or even reach the speed limits on roads for a few miles .... So there argument is really flawed ..
