Car Wouldnt Start or Lock / Unlock

Went to start my car today, turned the key and nothing happened

then I noticed the clock and trip computer display was all faded and only showing parts, then dash lights started flashing.

Tried to start it again, nothing and the alarm went off. tried to lock / unlock it using the key to see if it was the immobiliser and nothing happened. Tried the button on the door, nothing. tried the door handle on both sides. Nothing

So I was locked in my car in the petrol station forecourt, with the alarm going off and it wouldnt start

After sitting there for 5 mins, waiting my mate to come up with the spare key to open the car from the outside, I gave it a try and it started.

But now my airbag lights on

Looks like my ecu/electrics have reset themselves as the clock etc are all reset.

Im away offshore tomorrow, so looks like a trip to seat in 2 weeks time. Or will they pick the car up, as now I have no air bag and the garage is 60 miles away. I dont fancy driving 60 miles with no airbag just because my car decided to **** up all by itself

Anyone ever experienced this or know what it is? Im not driving it again incase the same happens

It an 07 FR Tdi 130 btw, so still under warranty

don't take this wrong, but 60miles with no airbag isn't such a big problem, just drive a little more carefull and anticipate other drivers.

in the old days, we didn't had airbags, and yet somehow we managed too survived that

btw: i think your battery is dead.

Driving without an airbag doesnt bother me, but its not my fault I have no airbag and its an excuse to try and get off with making a trip to the garage

Why do you think my batterys dead?

Car started perfectly after I left it for 5 - 10 mins and finally decided it was going to let me open / unlock the doors

faded lights and dodgy electrics sounds like an alternator fault, had the same thing with mine, lucky i was not locked inside my car, but outside

Why would that mean that when I turned the key after getting into the car nothing happened at all? Then the immobiliser and alarm were armed. ECU reset itself and airbag light came on

Car started fine after 5 mins, and then again after driving it 2 mins

I dont think its the alternator or battery. Reckon its ECU. May of just been a one off, but I dont want it to happen again. Will be going to seat in a weeks time to get them to look at it and sort out airbag light

I think the faded display was due to ECU going tits up

are you asking or telling? You seem to know what the problem is. Book it in to a dealer and see if you are right.

personally I think you have a loose battery connection but hey, If you know better..............
