Hi,

Just a quick question regarding Suspension.

I have H & R lowering springs and have had these on my OE shocks for over a year now and im thinking of upgrading to PI shocks for about £200 for the whole set but im not sure whether to go for Jamex Coilovers instead for a little more money.

Please can anyone give their views to what you would go for.?

Sorry bit off topic but how did you fine the ride and handling with running just springs??

Well i still have shocks not just springs. lol

The ride is the same apart from its lower by 30mm and the sump tank gets knocked once in a while if i have 2 or more people in the car going over these stupid road humps we have in parts of London (some are like small mountains where i live). i now need to drive very slowly over them.

The ride is alittle more stiff than before too.

I'd go for a good set of shocks and springs over a set of cheap coilovers.
you have the springs so better off just getting the new shocks with new top mount bearings and bushes

Meant just changing the sprigs lol so would you recommend doing this then? Or save a few more pennies and go the whole hog? if you don’t mind me asking how much did u pay for your springs? And how much did it cost to get them fitted??

Cheers Pacey

i had the jamex coilovers..only took them off because i thought i was selling my car...you dont realise how bad the handling is on a standard car until you take em off having been on nearly a year!

i LOVED em, and they handled VERY well..

Pacey i think i payed just over £100 for the springs from europerformance website.

My friend is a mechanic so he fitted them for me so i am lucky i guess.

If you change the wish bone fronts to LCR/TT/S3 ones you will notice a difference. As for top mounts the LCR ones with LCR bearings are the best ones in the VAG range.

Not too sure TBH.
I know the TT/S3 and LCR ones are all the same but never seen the LC or MK4 GTI ones to compare.
There are pictures of the LCR ones on my RR thread if someone has pictures of the LC or MK4 GTI ones to compare

Im sorry guys im just not sure if i understood right.
To put everything in one post.

From what i have read i understand that i can put in my LC front/rear wishbones from LCR/TT/S3, and that i should use LCR top mounts with LCR bearings when im going to change my suspension. Is that right ?

No we were talking about the bushes on the wishbones. I would not change the wishbone
to anything but the OE ones which come with the car but the Audi TT bushes are better than the seat ones which is why i changed my wishbone rear bushes to the TT ones.

If you are changing the shocks or springs you do not need to change the bushes but it just makes sense to do so to improve things further.

I hope this helps.
