ok, im looking at options to lower my tdi Fr,

Im not looking for a huge drop, (between 30-40mm) i dont really want to drop it to the floor, as its a daily driver and i go along quite a few B-roads, so the comfort still needs to be there, whilst still gaining a subtle drop in ride height.

Therefore i feel coilovers will be wasted on me, as i dont really require them for trackdays or to be adjusted, and im not sure if i want to try out the ebay specials even though they seem very cheap...and the branded names are well out of my price range at the moment.

The other options therefore are:

30mm ebaich springs on my original shocks, this seems quite cheap, but have heard horror stories of them wearing the shocks out quite quickly...but would just a 30mm drop be safe on OE shocks

The best option in my mind..a new set of lowered shocks and springs..have seen these in a 35mm drop and i hope i can pick them up for about £150....although i fear these may be quite cheap and cheerfull as well....and maybe not much different from cheap coilover kits

thanks for any help in advance

any help on this would be great

personally - i wouldnt recommend lowered springs on standard shocks - ur shocks wont last very long..... i cant comment on ebay specials as ive never experienced them, but if u just save up a little longer you can afford a well known branded set or shocks and springs - something like weitec kits are only around £300 odd. ive heard many people say that u get what you pay for..... have a look on
www.venommotorsport.com
and www.dpmperformance.co.uk
well known companies on here and quite cheap too.

what just standard polo gti shocks and springs? any idea on the drop? what model polo would it be that is comparable to the mk4 ibiza?

looking at a set on venonmsports at the moment, look quite good and give a 35mm drop...just need someone to fit them on the cheap ;)

What kit you looking at on venomsports mate? I have the same problem as you, dont want to be touching the floor because I use it everyday and the roads round here aren't in great condition!

The Weitec 30mm Ultra GT Kit is a really good option...

I think I've got a set of these which I had when I got my car. Apparently the guy I got my Fr from had them fitted on his 1,4 sport but never got around to fitting them to the Fr. I was planning on getting them fitted, but to pay £200 to fit a set which I'm pretty sure won't slam the rear end (which is what i want), i'd rather get a set of AP's for a few extra quid and be satisified with the result. So if you fancy buying mine pm me. They're obviously second hand with approx 5k on them. Open to offers;)

yer i think it was standard Polo GTi setup, i believe it would be from the newer model or the one just before...sorry, wouldn't know how many mm drop it was but it looked very nice (how the ibiza's should be sitting from stock)
