Advice needed - Overheating

i am having the same problem

hi i have the same problem i think i start driving and it was ok the starts to over heat bad i slow down and the temp then starts to slow down back to 90 then if i speed back up it starts going to 120 againi have checked fuses over batter and in drivers side panel its due for its cam belt to be changed in july so i thinks its the pump unless you boys can tell me how i can check the thermastat the fans come on when i slow down to cool the engine when it over heats so i think its ok but can be wrong i have a seat leon t cupra 1.8 20v on a 03 plate

Bare in mind i drive a mk4 cupra,

my mate changed the thermo over on my car to try and rule it out more than anything and it was a pig of a job to do!.....not sure bout the mk3's tho!

I have the got the exact same symptons as you desribe.....no hot air through your vents?

So mine is booked in next tuesday to get the belt....tensioners and water pump done!

How many miles has your car done if u dont mind me asking?

again, water pump is knackered on yours by the sounds of it leeanne

thanks its booked in now to change pump and cam belt so hope its better after that costing £250 to replace it all

he also going to change thermostat free of charge to to save me getting that changed later on

all change it was pump had split on the plastic bit so had cam belt kit done early and he changed thermo to just in case not bad but all fine now can stop driving like miss dasiy

Just had this problem on my mk3 cupra, fans wouldnt kick in at all, was looking allover for a plug i disconnected and forget to re-connect... then read this, melted fuse on top of the battery, just gone and replaced it now, hopefully this is a problem solved!
