Hi everyone i have been thinking about buying myself a used car but quite a new one if possible, i did want a MK1 cupra R but now been looking at Leon 2.0 TFSI's, what are they like?

What bhp are they standard? How do they take to Tuning? Has anyone tuned one up and how does it drive?

Is it possible to get 270bhp on one of them or is that a bit too much?

If someone could give me some advice on this car that would be great thanks

Mike

p.s CUPRA R bumpers, will they fit a 2.0 TFSI?

Hi mate iv just bought an 06 plate TFSI FR and i love it there 200bhp standard which gives plenty of pull. Im sure there is someone has got over 300bhp with theres on here somewhere... Theres plenty of bits available to tune them loads and i read on a website that there is potential to get 70% more power from the engine....

plenty of options available to tune the 2.0tsfi engine, its a cracking engine and very robust;

comes is 2 forms off the 'shelf';

the FR which is 200bhp and the Cupra 240bhp (essentially the FR has the smaller K03 turbo init as standard and the Cupra the K04). Other than a few cosmetic differences and slightly bigger discs on the Cupra that about all the difference I think.

These engines are also found in the Audi TT, Golf GTIs so many mods and upgrades available.

A simple stage 1 remap on an FR will take it to Cupra performance (circa 240bhp) and this can be done without the need to upgrade anything else. Depending on which map you go for this will be around £400-£600.

If you want to take the FR to around 300bhp and a stage 2 map this can get a bit more pricey but really depends on what you want; Stage 2 will in essence require a new exhaust system (Milltek), upgrade fuel pump, filter etc and stage 2 remap probably in region of £1.5-£2K bu i'll bow down to the better knowledge of those who have had this done!

The FR also has a DSG option, I used to own one of these (basically an auto box with the racing flappy paddles if you fancy being in control). I had great fun with my FR before upgrading. All depends on if you fancy a change from the manual gearbox.

Have a search around the forums here, always plenty of help and quick responses from a knowledgeable community.

Good luck with your purchase

Cupra R bumpers fit the MK1 Leon, not the MK2. What you need is a standard Cupra with a remap and a front splitter as sold in the section above.
