that makes 3 of us at least then! :)

my re-mapped 04 plate Cupra tdi has now done 70k, ive owned it since it's 1st service and i've never, ever seen it do more that 47mpg and that is rare. I normally get 42 on a good run and struggle to reach 40 in and around town, thse figures are if I wear my carpet slippers and drive like an old man with a box of tissues and tartan rug on the back shelf, however, if I drive it with any enthusiasm at all it's 37mpg ish.

I haven't been too bothered as it's still a lot better than my old Cupra R which used to do 22mpg after Jabba had tinckered with it so I'm still better off.

Are these quotes some people post attaining to 63mpg really possible, perhaps...but not in my world:whistle:

agreed!

im running my cupra derv as standard and around town i see 40 mpg if im extremely careful..i do see 45-50 on my daily to work but the average over a tank always works out to around 40mpg

seen you around a few times recently too bud! cars looking good!

25 mile trip to work inc town, motorway & queues normally gets me about 50mpg.

On the way home, faster speed, less queues gets me mid 50's.

Hammering it will get me high 40's

Just to annoy those getting 'bad' mpg figures, here is what I got over the past week (all from the trip computer btw):

Thirsk-Middlesbrough-Hull with 2 people + luggage
53.6mpg

Rotterdam-Amsterdam with 2 people + luggage
54.2mpg

Amsterdam-Nurburgring with 2 people + luggage, but stuck in endless traffic on motorways (ie 10-20mph stop start)
49.8mpg

1 Lap of the nurburgring (very slow, only a bit of aggressive driving)
37.8mpg

Nurburgring-Stuttgart with 4 people on the autobahns
51.2mpg on the way there
50.9mpg on the way back

Nurburgring-Calais with 2 people, luggage + a few crates of german beer
51.6mpg

Dover-Thirsk with 2 people, luggage, german beer + a additional crates of desperados
52.1mpg

Granted they were long journeys, but I get similar figures (better usually) on my 35 mile commute to work :ban::lol:

I have a mk1 leon tdi fr and live in Milton Keynes (mixture of the A5 roads and loads of roundabouts) and do a 14 mile journey round trip to work and back every day. Mine is AMD remapped (200 and something bhp and 330 lb/ft ish).

On a journey back last weekend to Essex, over 180 miles doing M1, M25, M11 and A120 at 90 mph (nothing on the road and may as well be honest), I averaged a shade over 50 mpg. If I do a steady 75 mph, M1, M25, A12 and back roads for twenty or so minutes, 200 mile round trip, I get 58-60 mpg.

Around Milton Keynes to work and back each day, with reasonable driving, cold start up in the morning, etc... etc... I average 43 mpg.

Hope this is a benchmark for you?

I've not reset my average mpg thingy since Christmas and it's sitting on 47.6mpg at the moment that's with mostly town driving with 3 or 4 long motorway trips this year.

Not another MPG thread!

Anyway pretty much 47mpg for most of the year with a crap 8 mile commute to work. Winter it drops to 45mpg.

I don't know what it does on a run really as the trip only gets reset on every tank. Ridiculous sonsidering I've had the car for nearly five years. Would estimate 54mpg on a run.

V Power/BP ultimate/Millers helps (+2mpg ball park) also a map will help too (+2mpg from my experience)

I get 22mpg around oulton park, 17 mpg around angelsy, 27mpg around the nurburgring (cos it's bloody scary) and average 45 mpg on the road with 50mpg possible if i just go with the traffic and don't over take it all ( which i normally do);) Seat ibiza tdi 130 205 bhp 380 ft lbs

pfft i did 100 miles on a tank at the nurburgring lol. bloody fast porkers.

Ive got a 2004 ibiza cupra tdi, never seen 50 mpg no where near, my average is 37mpg. I got 44mpg average the other day on way to work which was a suprise. cannot get my average to above 40mpg for any lenght of time. Would a seat specialist be the way forward to have a look if somethings causing the rubbish mpg? diagnostics via vag-com etc.
Im not driving it hard at all.
I love the car but the mpg is a let down as it was half the reason for me opting to buy this car. :D:think:

Ive had it as low as 17mpg in as high as 60+mpg, like wot other people have said use the torq off boost and antcipate things so u dont do the usual scalextrix driver impression. also ur tyre pressure even the weights of different makes and models of tyres can be suprising then if u have ice which weighs alot an other stuff that maybe in the boot can have an effect.

drive on your nearest motorway and cruise at 65mph in 6th gear (do this at 2am)

press and hold the reset button while on the mpg screen. flick it back to the time, give it 10 seconds and then select mpg again....

tada!!
