I'm going to upgrade my brakes quite soon,

Already have 312mm discs, 312 carriers.....and Ferodo DS2500's.

If I came across some 312mm Calipers would they fit straight on to replace the 288mm calipers? Or would my exisiting 288mm calipers and 312mm carriers have the same performance as 312mm calipers?

Thx..

Assuming you have a Mk1 Leon 150 TDI then your existing 288 calipers are exactly the same as the 312 calipers, all you need are the 312 caliper carriers and the 312 discs etc. to convert to 312 brakes, which it sounds like you already have.
All the 312 carriers do is "space" the calipers further out from the hub to fit the 312 discs.

Would this be the same for my Mk4 Ibiza? They have 288's as standard - I have 312mm carriers and will be getting discs and pads soon. If I just put the carriers, discs and pads on, I could use my 288 calipers?

This is what my current 288 setup looks like:

And this is what the 312's I have look like:

As you can see - the calipers dont look the same at all! So would just changing the carriers work on mine? Or would I have to change the calipers too? I hope I wouldnt as my TT calipers (as the rest of the setup is as you can see) are pretty rough!

No I'm afraid you need to change the calipers as well on the Ibiza/Fabia platform. Looks like you have got some wire brushing and painting to do. :)

Have a look here for what the Golf mk4/Leon mk1/Octavia mk1/A3 mk1, 312mm caliper carriers cost new:

http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=209647

Look to pay up to £100 for a secondhand set of 312 caliper carriers from Ebay or go scrapyarding and look for a bargain.
I removed a set of 312 caliper carriers from a scrapped early Leon Cupra and it cost me £11.75, it was difficult not to smile when I was told the price. :)
