song names on bluetooth MFD?

Hmm. Mine doesn't. I thought it might be the format of the tags, but it can't be that, coz the headunit itself displays the tags on the scrollbar no problem.

So.... why does yours show on the MFD, but mine not, if we've both got the same stereo?

Make it a mp3 data cd when you burn it not an mp3 audio cd
Took me a while to work it out

It does not make sense that in a cupra you have all this equipment and the facility to look at the 'audio' display on the MFD but it then won't display the track names. No use whatsoever when even the most basic leon has an MP3 player as standard!

surely someone out there must have overcome this or figured it out or updated the software or something??

Agree. That's exactly the same thing that happens on my FR and I can't see why I don't see the track info - everything is tagged correctly (I suppose if it wasn't the main unit wouldn't show the text either)

the audio display facility is there for those that choose to have the rns510. just like cars without cd multi changers will have the fascility for one. its got nothing to do with who has a cupra and who has a 'basic' leon.

I think you misunderstood what i was saying mate. i'm not comparing the basic leon or cupra at all as i've had both and know the differences.

The basic leon hasn't got the same MFD display. what i was saying is that the basic leon doesn't have any info displayed about mpg, petrol left or anything - it has a basic odometer. yet the basic leon has an mp3 cd player with ID tag capability. My confusion is why when you have an MFD, like in the cupra, does it not display the id tags (track names etc) on the dash yet it does on the cd unit itself. that's what doesn't make sense. it's almost like someone forgot to finish the programming off or something.

i'm not sure why having the satnav system would make the engineers put more effort into allowing you to see the song names on the dash board.

The thing that determines whether you have the larger more functional MFD display is not what model your Leon is, it's whether you have Bluetooth or not - I've seen plenty of Cupras with just the basic display without the large MFD

I also have the fully integrated factory fitted bluetooth. phone numbers and names and all the other stuff apears on the MFD, just 'track 1 etc'. the problem is the MFD i have does not just not recognise ID tags. any further ideas? it seems from your pics that if you have the optional satnav added you get the ability to read mp3 ID tags on the MFD. isn't that right?

Yes the RNS510 based MFD3 unit does it, but I'm not sure about the earlier fitted SatNavs -

I retro fitted my unit and live the extra functionality it gives, probably my favourite and most worthwhile mod

the mfd only displays information sent to it.
the rns510 sends track names, album info etc.
the factory head unit does not.

oh right fair enough chrisboyle999. it just seemed a little strange that . i guess i'll just have to read my MPG (and cry) instead, lol. out of interest what colour's your Cupra? I'm bound to see you driving around the Toon as there aren't many mk 2 Cupras around here.

im looking into buying a mk2 leon and have noticed the differences on the display in pictures on auto trader, wondered what the differences were, from what i understand the display wth the temp and fuel gauges above is a basic display (like mk4 ibiza trip computer) and the display with the small gauges at each side is more advanced and the car has bluetooth etc????? so far i had only magaged to see that the bigger shows what doors are open!! im glad i found this post!

if you want my advice (for what its worth) dont buy a 1p leon without the bluetooth (larger mfd) option.
do a quick search, its so much more than just bluetooth.

absolutely. The small basic display says pretty much nothing. it's an odometer and trip computer, and on my first mk2 leon didn't even say MPG. the larger display is more than just bluetooth as said above. in my second picture it shows:- doors are open or shut, whether you're wearing your seatbelt or passenger is. it will bollock you for even trying to let it run out of fuel. it has odometer, trip, mpg current, trip and mpg since bought. it displays miles left to fill up, average speeds. it also has functions to alter the cars settings like, auto lights (if built in), tyre pressures, coming home lighting times, convenince lighting for the dash. if installed it has phone setup info like address book and all things stored on your sim like last calls. it also has a function to see what mp3s you are playing, however as read on this post it doesn't fully work with the standard mp3 cd player. i couldn't tell you what it does if you have the ipod dock. hope that helps. the larger display is much much better! it fells like your car has a brain!
