Keep or Bin!?

Tried to take the bump strips off last night but i descovered the lacqer has worn away underneath leaving a very visible depression.

Looks like they'll be staying on any suggestions?

not sure you will be able to polish it out if its taken the laquer off...could spray them the same colour as the car try and blend them in a bit...

machine may make it look "less" worse, but could also remove more lacquer

could you maybe try some black car polish and see what that does or take it to a body shop and see how much they'd charge even the laquer out?

Sorry if I'm being stupid, but that looks like the mark taking the 'ibiza' off the back of my car left. T-cut and polish, could barely notice the difference! Just what I see.

if its taken off the laquer then polish wont get it out, only fresh laquer will.
As someone has said above you could try machine polishing but im not sure

try machine polishing to sort out the edges then put some new laquer on it then machine polish again should blend in and be much better...:

I'll try i suppose, but this might just get under the edge of the laquer and take more off..

Nah mate, Theres not anything there to take off, thats the problem, theres no laquer where there should be.

try machine polishing to sort out the edges then put some new laquer on it then machine polish again should blend in and be much better...:

Yeah i was thinking of doing this, just a little bit of new laquer on it then blend it in..

also looking at the picture, you seriously need some one to machine polish your car to get out all those horrid swirl marks!

Haha, there not the worst thing in the world, i'd just prefer it without.

I know, its pretty bad isnt it. do you recon i could do it myself with an angle grinder attachment and some cutting compound if it was on a slow speed?

best thing to do is go to a local tool shop and get a SOFT START silverline tool like this:

buy some pads and some polish and give it a go...

one word of advice is seek help from a professional detailer before you attack your own car. it is very easy to damage your paint if you dont know what your doing.
