Sods law just before selling it, the Ghetto GTi is playing silly buggers:rolleyes:

Idles and drives fine from cold - but when upto temp its got a random spooky habit of ticking over rough as hell or reving upto 1500 rpm - 2500 rpm all on its own accord, then will idle fine...

It has recent new sparkplugs, ht leads, dizzy cap, rotor arm, and the throttlebodie cleaned not so long ago. Have checked all the vac hoses and cant see anything amiss and will plug the vag-com in to see if any faults pop, other than that I'm a tad stumped.....

One would argue its fuel consumption is a tad high for my liking, but maybe thats my right foot:doh: no eggy or rich smells tho..

Its done it again this morning been pulled up at a set of traffic lights and the car next to me thought I wanted to race him off the lights:D

that's what i didn't know neither, so thought i'd suggest it, as my mate had the same on his car (not ibiza) and his ICV was messed!

There's no F in Quality..
The 2.0 8v hasn't got an ISV, the idle is controlled by the stepper motor attached to the throttle body, hence why if the TB is gunked up stalls on idle.

I'd take a guess at the coolant temp sensor, giving the ECU an incorrect reading.....

But then that wouldn't account for the revs rising to 1500-2000rpm by itself..... hmmmm....

I'm feeling the said stepper motor kicking in through the throttle pedal when its running rough or ideling at about 500rpm

Took it up through a drive through London to the Ace Cafe - one minute it would drive and idle fine then it would be all over the place and would intermittantly hold back under acceleration (kangerooing) - all though no such symptoms exist until its 1/3 on the temp gauge before the silly buggers start.

Will plug in the vag com when I get back home and see what it brings up.
