These have been about for a while albeit under a different brand name. I think the general consensus was they look good, but we were all waiting for someone to buy one and report on it!

Well certainly the spec looks limpressive.

Until recently I wasnt aware there were so many different units that could retofit into the Leon Mk2. I had assumed previously that you had to take the optional MFD3 unit.

I have seen other posts showing aftermarket application of similar units but this unit seems alot cheaper than others and could be a very nice unit!!

I unfortunately can not comment if it's any god or not but would be interested to know as defo something I am considering as a later application to replace my boring standard unit.

If you brave enough order it and report back!

I don't know the manufacturer of the unit you're showing but I know the best and most popular one is ZHUHAI WITSON INDUSTRIAL (Chinese). They produce various OEM look multimedia/navi units and they are quite good. There are numerous VAG group clubs here in Greece and in US that I know, that organise group buys and almost everyone is very pleased with them.

I may go for this one http://www.witson.com/view_pro.php?id=1424 on summer.

I don't believe they have a HDD installed however is that really worth the extra 1k for the OEM? I'm very reluctant to fit anything that isn't proper SEAT gear though lol! :)

The RNS510 can be had for around double that, and in my opinion it's worth the wait. Besides, you'll get much more back for the OEM one should you change the car.

My first post on the forum!:

I like the look of this unit especially bearing in mind the price.

I seem to remember looking at similar threads on here for other retro fit non OEM units (possibly Alpine) and remember people needing to buy a specific conventor in order to have full functionallity. Would this be required for this unit or is it quite literrally plug and play?

Also, does anyone have a rough idea of cost to install such a unit (including new housing fascia to hold the unit)?

The facia`s are available from your SEAT dealer and are around £12.00 with the clips and VAT.
I have been looking into these alot recently and it appears that the Witson E723 is the latest .It looks just like the MFD3 but already has bluetooth,Dvd,tomtom or igo8 and TV tuner and is available with a SEAT start up screen for around £450.00 posted.
The one at the top of this link is old hat!!
The only thing that i am concerned about is that my car already has factory fitted bluetooth and I would like to know if these aftermarket units will mute automatically, yet still allow the call through the speakers as per the original head units? Anyone?

Its the same unit as this,
Witson and Waywell appear to be the same manufacturer as all there units are available under each name! Maybe marketed to different areas of the globe who knows!

Also I`ve seen another unit, same features but with a sharper look, when I find it I`ll post it .

do the models mentioned have sat nav already? they mention GPS, but am unsure if this means sat nav.

if not, how would i get sat nav on there?

this could be a perfect solution for me :)

Most of these are satnav units ,but unless specified when ordering ,you have to install your own SD card with whichever version of navigation software you prefer (TomTom or igo 8),which is pretty good as you can have speed camera detection etc.
I believe they have to be the PDA version .
Beware some models out there may only be media players check details first. For example the Zenec one ,which you have to buy a seperate GPS receiver for.
