currently i own a 1995 WRX, but going away to afghan soon, and will be returning with 6-7k to buy another car. Possibly 8k, but will stick with 6-7 for now.

I quite fancied a Cupra R. Had a look and i believe a 2004 plate is within that budget.

I did have a cupra before, not r, just normal and it was an awesome car.

Not sure wether to get another scoob. What car would you guys get ?

I swapped from a bugeye Impreza and I'm very happy :)

Don't notice the loss of grip (except when in the wet) and very capable in the twisties and in a straight line the Cupra R is quicker in standard guise.

Prefer the cabin too, lot nicer (VAG) switchgear etc. But you should know this if you had the Cupra.

Take one one for a testdrive and I'm sure you'll like.

PS Can easily achieve 30+ MPG in the Leon a RARE occurrence in the WRX ;)

Scooby for me too, just love that warble sound that is unique to these cars. I think the newer ones are a bit more easy to live with too.

Sold MY00 Scooby WRC Edition Type R in Feb and got a K1 :)

K1 is cheaper to insure (well over half of what the scooby was!), cheaper to run & maintain.

So this will be the same if you went for the Cupra R :)

Nothing against the scooby.. as i had it for 3.5yrs! But for 6K-7K .. would def get the Cupra R rather than another Scooby! Considering new year's day last year the head gasket blew.. then 2 weeks after that the bearings went on the turbo.. i paid out over 2K within 6weeks! :( Great Cars to have.. But when they go wrong.. They seriously affect your wallet! :(

a friend has one and i must say its extremely quiet compared to the usual you hear. its a wrx 2000 with factory P1 running gear and exhaust.

its just the insurance

yeah i was maybe a bit wrong there but the usual ones i hear have dustbin exhausts on them and are ridiculously loud

I'd have an Evo over an Impreza any day due to the chavs having sadly claimed the Scooby as their own, they seem to be doing the same with the Evo these days tho

i don't understand how these young folk (im 22 btw lol) can insure them cos i had a quote on both cars and they were £2200-£2500  who in their right mind would pay that?

cheers guys.

Yes well the insurance on my old leon was dirt cheap in comparison to the scoob im running.
But tbh, i love the sound of the flat four of the scoob. The only problem is they often go wrong. the last 2 have had engine problems, and i have spent a fortune mending them.

I spent just over 1k putting a new engine in the last one and for some reason it still didnt work.

I ran some insurance quotes on an Evo and oh my gosh, they were sooo expensive.

The more i look at the RRR's, the more i want one. Could never afford one before which is why i opted for the standard Cupra.
