Hey,
Thought id write a small guide to this as its common and happened to me 'yet' again!
On the PD130 engines like mine you may come across this annoying problem.
You hear a loud bang? Lose loads or nearly all power?
You have a side mounted inter cooler (SMIC) located above the left wheel, in the arch. You can just see it if you look down behind the headlamp.
There is a pipe which comes down from the left side of the engine (showed in the image, the left highlighted area) which goes down and clips into the SMIC. There are 2 sections of this pipe, giving it 3 possible places it can break apart.
Its poorly designed and basically, one pipe goes into the other, the pipe which enters the other had 2 metal lugs on each side and on the surrounding pipe there is a metal clip which goes around holding it in with these 2 metal lugs. (shown below in image)
In this image you see that this metal 'lug' had worn off and opened up a hole in the piping giving away my lovely boost to power!!!
I shall check pricing of this pipe when I see the receipt at home but from what I remember it was around £20 for a new section of pipe, the corner section, and £1 or something for the metal clip!
Hope this helps people understand the problem if they have this, could make it a sticky if you want !
