I personally use an applicator pad to put it on then terry towel to remove when i glaze and wax mine, as for wax i use collinite 476. You can get the wax in a bundle with terry towels and pads on elite car care's website ;)

the turtlewax polish/wax from halfords (comes in the relevant colored bottles with the chipstick attatched). Is it a 'wax' or a 'polish'?. It occured to me yesterday that it may be just a repeat of what SRP does and thus a bit pointless.

It's both. It's an all in one style product that polishes and waxes and it's got coloured oils to mask the scratches. Although I use the term wax very loosely there as I doubt it's got much in the way of wax in it, more likely synthetic.

Does SRP remove paint surface at all?

Yes, it's contains abrasives so will remove paint surface, it too is an all in one style product that will clean, polish, and protect in one, but it's protection is only short term and it's best use is as a polish by hand. It's big benefit is how well it fills swirls.

One or t'other would be my advice, using both is doing the same thing twice IMO just with a different tool. Use the srp and put a nice wax over the top.
