fit a facelift kit or save for a facelift car?

Hey all.

I am thinking of getting all the facelift kit (bumpers and sideskirts) for my prefacelift leon cupra, but it doesnt look like its going to be a cheap job.

My question is .. is it worth doing? or am i better off saving for a newer model??

My cupra has been very well looked after but has 80k on the clock.

What are peoples opinions on this???

too many people putting lcr bumpers on, when the facelift cupra one looks very smart, lcr splitter does take the rounded bottom off the facelift bumper which i like. look how just bempers alone have transformed the yellow one above

It isnt cheap to do it right, but will transform the cars looks. If its down to money get some quotes and see if its cheaper to change cars or bumpers..

I get too attached to cars im told, but i know my car and trust it, id prefer to spend money on something already good than start over a newer but possibly poorer car.

Must admit the white LCR look is stunning.... maybe one day

It does make a big difference. That was original SEAT bumpers and skirts and colour coded rubbing strips. As Rick says, don't go for the cheapy fibreglass stuff as its a b*tch to fit and if you have a bump its a pain in the backside to repair.

Be careful who you get to do the painting, the jacking point covers need a different primer or the paint won't adhere to them. I need to get mine re-done as its coming off.

I to think the facelift is worth it. Ross's motor looks so much better (+ the R32? wheels look so go). I think the softer edges on the LC bumpers are much more flowing than the LCR ones.

I'd keep you motor and spend the money on the bumpers - you know the car and its history. there is a small cost to selling, then you've got to find a good example and even then you have the unknown factor.

I'd defo keep the current car and pay for the bumpers from a dealer of scrappy - avoid the cheapo ones on eBay.

Edit: by cheapo ones on eBay I mean fiberglass copies not second hand OEM ones.

I agree on the Cupra facelift front bumper, a bit too many LCR ones on the go. Only problem you might face is if you go for a large Front Mount Intercooler at any stage, the LCR bumper would allow better cooling.

if you can sell your car and add some extra cash instead of buying and fitting bumpers which will easily cost you £500+ for front bumper, back bumper, skirts, screws, guides, fixings and painting fitting etc you would be better off selling it and buying a facelift as they arent that expensive now you can get them from £3200-£4000, hope this helps but dont let it put you off changing the bumpers as many have done it including me.

They're 8J front and 8.5J rear. The offset is lower on the rears than the fronts to give a wider rear track on the TT Quattro Sport. I have Forge 10mm spacers on the front.

I think the facelift is less restrictive than pre-facelift but obviously the LCR bumper is the least restrictive of all.

Yes, they scrub the plastic arch liners ever so slightly without spacers. A lower offset would get rid of this problem though. They seem to suit the Yellow Leon very well.

To the OP, I'd be inclined to stick with the car you have. Its tried and tested. You could buy a facelift car and have nothing but problems with it.

I'm trying to source the parts for this at the moment! i say go for it! i have the front bumper so far just need the rear and side skirts now. i need to keep hunting!!
