is it just the rubbish roads in the north of scotland .. is it a problem with my suspension . am i paronoid?????????

my cupra suspension is standard but the front splitter seems to scrape a lot not only on speed humps but also when coming down a hill onto a flat area and other places

any ideas how high it should be from the ground?

thought so was just checking .. have a new 1 to replace it need to get round to fitting it

I'd get used to it mate it happens on nearly everybody's splitter, good job they are about £18 cause you will probably end up changing a few

well, its low.. and its been designed to be replaceable, (£20) so its expected that it will scrape now and then.
But if its literally everywhere then maybe your suspension is shot.

however its generally accepted this its difficult to avoid scrapping it now and then.

My lcr is running standard suspension and the splitter's 130mm of the tarmac. The one's i've seen floating around in my area all seem to be different heights ! Just got to be extra carefull i'm affraid !

got it on ebay think it was about 20quid plus 10 postage it said it was a genuine looks ok any way

cheers everyone you have been helpful thought i was being stupid

Can't even get on or off the drive in a straight line. I have to angle the car and go slow so the susp doesnt compress. Only got 3 mm to play with then!

i don't even have 3mm leaving mine :( i have to ride the splitter in and out of the drive, only very light grating tho; i do get some suspect looks!!:cartman:

Its sounds strange but they seem to last better if the car is lowered on coilovers. The standard suspension and even FSDs dive quite a bit under braking causing the front splitter to get much closer to the ground. Coilovers are generally much firmer and the nose doesn't drop anywhere near as much under braking.

I have heard this before; when I move out of my current house in the summer I am planning on a firmer spring and damper combination which will hopefully increase splitter life!

i will also back that firmer suspension can improve the situation for speed bumps etc as the car dives less...
However the same cant be said for multi storey car parks or driveways where the angle of the ramp is too much due to there being less clearance no matter how slow you go.

Hey, I didn't realise there was another Inverneshian on the forum!

I find I don't scrape mine very often, but then I had a car before that was quite a bit lower than the LCR so I learnt the hard way where I could and couldn't go.
