deactivating the Rain sensing wipers

hello gents, i have a question which i keep asking to verious VW garages about the rain sensing wipers only to get flipped of with some story about the 1M being built with parts from audi and vw part bins.

question - can you deactivate the damm rain sensing wipers as they are Pain.

some of my as why? but have you ever tried driving with them in the snow and slightly drizzling rain conditions?

i like to control the speed of wipers and not have trying to through them selves of the wiper arms at just the meer sight of mist!!

(Rant over)

after pulling the sensor out and doing a series of tests it seams that sensor controls the complete intermittent setting circuit.

my assumption is that the sensor emmits a IR light source and the IR is reflected back to sensor from the falling rain (or your hand if wave it in front of the sensor).

bagging and tucking up the sensor into the headliner doesent work as so too the complete removal of the sensor. my only thought is that it is controlled by the ecu or a rain sensing unit which i think could be a plug and play unit like the wiper relay system.

does anyone know or has retrofitted the sensors to a 1M.

or if not where can i get a workshop CD from???

your thoughts and comments on the matter is much appreciated

P.S. Just had the car converted to LPG!! it is the way forward!!

It was standard on the first Cupras along with all the other toys , you can change the sensitivity via the switch on top of the wiper stalk or just don't activate them and use the normal constant wipe or do the intermittent your self, never had a problem with mine.

lol

the sensitivity on the autowipers is a total wasste of time. just changes it from very annoying to annoying. they are a PITA
id imagine you would need to take the wires that go to the sensor and re-route to a relay. perhaps the relay from cars that dont have auto wipers..?
