hi all ive got a 8v gti that understeers like a pig. its got new tyres on it and the rest is standard, but for standard surely it shouldn't understeer the amount that it does.

Even in the dry its a pain if i take roundabouts quickly it will still do it, but in the wet its stupid, i have to take corners sooo slowly otherwise im off into the nearest hedge. if you touch the throttle it will just spin all through second and into third.

I know if i fit coilovers or different wheels etc it will be better i just thought for standard it shouldn't be this bad

Does anyone else have the same issues?

thanks

Toe and camber set up properly?

Try reducing your throttle input when mid-corner to tighten the line the car takes.

It's a front engine, front drive hatch - it's always going to have a tendency to understeer.

Like everyone has said the ibiza will always understeer my 8v and 16v both do it but the 8v was a lot better after a 4 wheel alignment..and the 16v feels better since i had the strut brace fitted...Tyres are the best thing.

ive got front and rear and id disagree. my ibiza is lowered on quality suspension, strut braced and ive driven a 205 gti standard and guess what handled better... bear in mind how old the 205 is!

i know i just the think the ibiza handles terribly even gti/cupra models. of course you can throw money at it, tyres supension bushes ect, but you can do that with any car?
