I wonder if this drop in price ( i think it was going to be 16k originally) will allows the concept body kit that is rumored to be in production to be added to the car and take the price upto 16k so you can have subtle or not so subtle

I had heard £17K a while back which was way too much IMHO, this is much nearer the mark. Could even tempt me to pull out of the 225 Cup deal and wait a few months....;)

And I would go for subtle BTW.

The price sounds pretty good I think, as far as bang for buck goes there isn't much out there to beat it I don't reckon, but if that is how it's going to look then..............oh dear!

I would have thought they'd try to stick a few more horses under the bonnet though, 180bhp (or 178 as it is now lol) is not exactly a mind blowing figure for a "hot" hatch nowadays, especially with Clio's and the like pushing out the best part of 200bhp

I would still go for the 225 Cup if I were you fella.

According to this from Auto Express yesterday it will be £16k:

Things are really hotting up at SEAT! As well as the dramatic new Ibiza Bocanegra, the Spanish firm also took the wraps off the revised Leon Cupra and the Ibiza FR at the Barcelona Motor Show.

The Leon Cupra gets minor styling updates inside and out and boasts the same 237bhp 2.0-litre TSI turbo engine as the previous model. It also gets a new electronic limited slip differential called XDS, as well as options such a touchscreen satnav. Sales should start in the summer.

The Ibiza FR is powered by a 148bhp 1.4-litre TSI turbocharged and supercharged engine, hooked up to a seven-speed DSG paddleshift gearbox. It gets the XDS differential system as standard along with a bodykit and 17-inch wheels. Sales start in July, with a price tag of around £14,500. A more powerful 178bhp Cupra version should cost £16,000 and go on sale in August.

To celebrate the Ibiza's 25th anniversary, the firm had every generation of the popular supermini on display, including the original. To mark the occasion, SEAT revealed a special edition Ibiza, which gets a whole host of kit including climate control, privacy glass, 17-inch alloys and a USB port with Bluetooth.
