How much do these go for new.
I have inherited the 'police siren' sound on my turbo and am looking into a replacement
(i think this is the right one for the pd150???)

Thanks for replies.
I've done an online request which sends the part needed details to around 150 car breakers and am awaiting my replies!

You'll be lucky! I've been messaging them all regularly on ebay for the past 6 months to try to get one! (see my sig)

If you or anyone else knows of one going - let me know! :D

Good luck with your search!

I have a Garrett GT1749VA and a GT1749VC at home! Neither are the right one!

Well, I personally wouldnt wait until the compressor wheel makes it way through the entire engine....
Like mine did
The noise I would say is the compressor wheel contacting the compressor housing.
God knows how strugers did it for 30k cant have been on its way out, as when they start they dont last long, mine lasted less than 1 mile!

mine has started to make a quiet "woo" sound when setting off from cold, its gone within 5 minutes.. the "woo" sound responds to throttle level but i cant hear it in 3rd gear upwards.

is this the same?

Maybe you blown the baffles in your backbox and its making a slight whoosh sound like it does when you have a straight through exhaust

This is what I have too
I've read on tdi forums that it could be a leak around the turbo itself? Mine is also more hissy/whooshy than it used to be.

I have the same type of noise from mine, however last time i looked there was quite alot of oil around the turbo joins so maybe mine is just leaking from one of the poor seals, its done 66000 now tho and doubt the clips have ever been replaced.

mine goes away after 5 mins, so im not worried at the moment....

if there any other way of telling if its on the way out apart from removing the turbo?

Mine is only noticeable @ low speeds.(the siren)
I.e pulling away from being parked etc.
The whoosh is noticeable all the time.Mostly under heavy acceleration.

The siren does not mean its going tits up. And yes its most audible at low revs.
