dilemma - remap tdi or cupra r ??

Recently bought a leon cupra tdi and am very happy with it :p
Was all for getting it remapped (although worried about clutch)
I currently drive about 350 miles a week, hence why i've got a diesal.
Well due to an unseen change, in about 4-5 months my mileage should be reduced to about 150 a week.

So now i dont whether to go ahead with my remap and keep the car ive got or save the money and buy a cupra r in 6 months.

How much better/quicker would a cupra r 225 perform than a remapped tdi to 185

cheers

Depends if your bothered about cost also, ive got a FR+ and love it, id love a cupra r but costs more to run fuel wise, i get 500mile a tank which would probs be 300 in a cupra r, a mapped tdi will still be quick and cost less than selling yours and swapping to a R. Your choice tho so, id stick with the TDI unless your desperate for a quick car.

Trust me, i have been for a very quick spin in JonJays and there is very little difference in performance over my standard LCR, but will be getting it remapped very soon.

I don't know if thats entirely true I have a Cupra R and my brother has an FR+ look the same but me and my brother agree that the Cupra R out performs his remapped diesel. But as already mentioned while I am refilling his is only under half with the same miles. It depends what you want from the car. I think a remapped diesel is a cost effective way of getting decent power. If you want the power go for the LCR but if you want cost effective power stick with what you have. Although you do need to factor in the cost of a new clutch too. FR+ with 32,000 on the clock it instantly slipped the clutch at low revs.

My personal choice would be a Cupra R, so much more tuning potential.
More tuning potential? I wouldnt say "more"...Diesels are very tunable too and more and more mods are surfacing every year.

I will have to take you for a spin now I got the big turbo :)

Im in two minds with my tdi, i do love it and the mpg is great and performance is ok, but being used to my old 220odd bhp mk3 ibiza cupra i do miss the petrol engine, but as said a mapped tdi is still a quck car think if i had to choose over again i would still go for the TDI as ive always had petrol engined cars and was good to have a change for a while. Still waiting to get mine mapped tho main factor as said is the clutch this needs to be in the back of your mind when getting one mapped so save up for that too, i however do drive reasonably steady with only the odd few blasts now and again i think having the diesel has calmed my driving down alot compared to my ibiza as id have a go at most cars with that :)... but put it this way whatever you choose your going to have a big smile on your face for a long time :)
